Vibrating B&O

Had my running in service done yesterday and told them my rear door/speaker from vibrating when the volume is 1/2 way or more.

Has anyone had anything like this? They are waiting for a new door card and/or speaker I believe to replace it.

What does the door card consist of?

Cheers

Mat

Notify your dealer that there is an SIB for the center channel B&O speaker.
Here it is: http://f10.m5post.com/forums/attachm...5&d=1385460069

Maybe there's another SIB for side speaker but I am not confident on that.

You sure it's the rear door speaker and not the B pillar? There's a B pillar rattle issue.. loose washer.

If it is the side speaker, and there's no SIB, they will probably replace it under warranty.

This happened to me with Lexus once. Took it in for a rattle. Dealer couldn't diagnose it having kept car for 3 days. Took it to another dealer. The guy there figured it out in 30 minutes. Was 3D glasses from the cinema that was trapped between right rear seat and door.

Is this not a ongoing rattle issue? Plenty of forums already covering this

Shame they can't fix it from factory, considering how much the option is

Thanks all.

They have looked at it during the running in service, fault found, and parts ordered... but I was told door card by one women and speaker by another in service department.

Either way they have found an issue... I've seen around 15 work units of labour on the warranty invoice.

Just wondering if anyone else had any similar issues.

Can you please let us know he SIB for it, if possible? I have this intermittent rattle/buzz that comes from a couple of the tweeters on the B&O. No terribly annoying but would be nice to get rid of them. The dealer is already doing the center speaker fix this coming week and would like to have them get everything done.

I was showing of mine to my wife with some nice Bach and one of the speakers was vibrating so bad that it ruined the experience.
For the price they should not leave factory without testing.

My b pillar passenger buzzes from time to time. Glad that the fix can be a washer. I will look into this when I'm back in town.

I am dealing with this right now. Rear left speaker buzz - especially noticeable in expanded mode on classical or acoustic songs. Dealer ordered replacement speaker but there are actually two speakers in that enclosure. They replaced the low end speaker, buzz did not disappear, now a new tweeter has been ordered. I will see if that fixes the problem next week when the part comes in.

TIP: Find a track that generates the buzz, then start isolating speakers with balance and fader until you are certain of the location. Then demonstrate this to the actual tech who will do the work. Much info is lost between your service rep and the tech. Fortunately, the service guys are all pretty attentive to us M5 owners and will go the extra mile to isolate the problems. With stereo issues, you have to put their nose on it or everyone's time gets wasted.

Thanks for that ShainoF10M5, it is interesting to hear from someone who has the same issue.

It is most evident when playing acoustic songs in my car, I did leave my car with the best track to demonstrate it when dropping it in for service.

They said at first the speaker needs replacing, then they said it's the door card. Not quite sure which it is they are ordering but I know the part(s) are on back order as not available yet.

Good luck with yours, please let me know what ends up sorting it out?

Cheers

start of this track shows the problem at 60% or more volume... really badly.

I hear you you brother, nobody wants to hear that s__t during such a great Knopfler track.

For what it's worth, I also had my car set to exactly the right track to demonstrate the problem the first time I took it in. I played it for the service REP and he heard it. However, when the service TECH took over on repair (when I had left) he started cycling through a bunch of satellite radio stations to listen.

It definitely helped to get all interested parties under the same "roof" for a demo of the problem. We shall see.

ANYTIME I am dealing with getting an issue resolved (car or anything) I make sure to get ALL the parties on a conference call or in-person meeting… the Customer Service rep, the person reporting problem (me or someone else?), the person actually correcting the issue, anyone else who has to get involved with the process.

I use the conference feature of my phone(s) A LOT. It's a REAL time saver!

Best of luck!
