313 colour - Edit: DIY refurb

Hi all,

Recently bought some 313s that need a refurb. I'm looking at getting them painted instead of recut but I'm not sure what colour to go for.

At the moment I'm thinking gloss black, however I do have a soft spot for a good old fashioned silver wheel.

Decisions decisions... any input for others would be much appreciated.

To me part of what makes the 313s is the cut face. Id say refurb back to standard imo!

What colour is your car? That can have a big bearing over what wheel colour you ultimately go for.

Have you though about going smoked chrome? Here's mine:

They're quite a bright silver from the front but as you move round the car they look darker. Not a great picture sorry..they look much better in real life.

This is how it is at present, but I've got a few plans including a Performance front bumper with carbon fibre splitters, carbon fibre performance spoiler and a gloss black diffuser.

The only problem with this is that they *will* need doing again in the not too distant future.

It's just the way of the world with diamond cut wheels and with the number of manufacturers fitting them to new cars at the moment I bet wheel refurbers are rubbing their hands together with glee at the thought of the future business coming their way.

On the diamond cut thing. The other half had a civic type r with the upgraded 19 inch rage alloys fitted. These had a diamond cut face. She probably had these on the car for at least a couple of years and they were still almost as good as new. Regular washing etc probably helped.

Gloss black always look cheap and really bad next to tyres

Anthracite looks amazing, but some look a bit too "blue" if you know what i mean

Well after taking on board people's comments, I have decided to have a go at refurbing the wheels myself. Here are some pics of my progress so far.

All ready now for a few coats of lacquer.

Thanks buddy

Looks like a nice finish on the wheels, although the keening marks are still quite noticeable.
