Tyre Pressures
Ok... I know it has been asked a million times before......
I recently renewed the suspension to the B12 kit and have a feel that the tyre pressures need to change a bit. Previously I've run them quite high, guessing this pressure felt good as it was compensating for the trashed OE setup in some way... Tyres are Vred Ultrac Sessanta on 19s. What are people running? Any input is helpful! Cheers Dan |

I was gonna post a similar thread yesterday, looked at my mv4's and my inside edges are wearing, im looking to find out what pressure people on runflats are running at.
Is inside edge wearing an under or over inflated issue?? Been told 40psi rear and 38 front, but unsure about it now. OP I hope you dont mind me joining in your thread enquiry, I figured it keeps a rregular occuring question from annoying too many people |

Neither. Inside edge wear is a tracking issue. Under-inflated tyres wear on both outer edges, over-inflated tyres wear in the centre of the tread.

Should have said its my rear tyres that are wearing on the inside edges, fronts are fine, tracking only affects the front tyres does it not?? |

That'll be the camber on the rear.
Even standard BMW's suffer this to a degree. If you've lowered the car, or put wider wheels on, or both - you need a 4 wheel alignment (on a Hunter machine, or similar) to get it all set up properly. The 4WA checks all the geometry is correct - tracking, camber, castor and the alignment between the front and rear wheels. Regular tracking check, just makes sure both front wheels are pointing the right direction. Even when set up, the camber will still wear the inner edges. Nationwide Tyres often have Hunter 4WA machines. |

I had this problem as well, and when I had my new wheels put on I was told it's to do with camber and need to sort the suspension out as it might be off.

But, to minimise the rear insuide wear, upping the pressure by a few psi does help. I know it did, when i had my runflats. |

If it's all standard, go by the tyre pressures that are listed on the sticker on the drivers side door frame.

Well I pumped them up to 37psi front, 40psi rear. Rear feels fine but the front feels unpredictable at speed on anything other than a straight road.
Going to reduce the fronts to 30 and work my way up to find a happy medium. |

30 is way too low for the fronts mate! It's a front engine/ rwd car!....and the engine is quite "heavy".... |
