4 month old 313's - milking already, dealer doesnt want to know

my car has the 313 diamond cut performance wheels which were refurbished by the dealership prior to me taking delivery, this was sub 4 months ago and the wheels are now milking around the centre caps which I believe is a well-documented problem, this is now an issue for me because as it stands, the dealership are trying to say to me that it must be something I have used on the wheels and they are ‘washing their hands’ of the issue so to speak.

what should i do?

3 of the wheels are like this (the one that was redone last month isn't affected yet...)

Do you use wheels sealant/wax to protect them ? If not it's your fault .

Well i do use poorboys wheel sealant actually, but are you saying that out of the thousands of cars fitted with these wheels every other person is as anal as us to use wheel wax/sealant? You really that naive to think that BMW expect that sort of maintainance from their mainstream buyer?

Its not just BMW wheels with polished/diamond cut faces that are prone to going like that without extra care. Volkswagen wheels are a right pain to maintain. How old are the wheels from may I ask?

Kick up a fuss but to be honest they may not change them as you haven't had the car from new. It's one of the major downsides of diamond cut wheels.

Aren't these the wheels you were selling the other day??

Yeah they are but I only noticed the other one this morning - I did state about this in the advert,

I did get a new one out of them because of a crack but suppose that's a bit different as it's actually different!

Will try Bmw UK if they don't play ball

They seem to be in great condition for 3 year old wheels. I've seen the polished wheels from a M3 look crap within a shorter space of time and I'm actually refurbing some E46 M3 wheels at the moment. They were proper rough due to corrosion and they will take some work to put right. If the car is still in warranty and the condition of the wheels are deteriorating out of your control then they should be replaced.

My 313's are similar. 2 of my 4 are milking quite badly. I'm going to wait 6 months until the winters go back on then set about a warranty claim for all 4.

Oh yeh... my bad. In that case.... get in there and stir up a storm! Situations like make me very grateful that I have a friend high up at my local dealer who looks after me like I'm royalty. Its such a shame a lot of BMW dealers appoint idiots who don't give a shit about their paying customers. There should be no question about these getting replaced or refurbed in my eyes.

Usually if the dealer refurbs alloys and they start to feck up again they'll tell you to feck off , however if your car is still under manufacturers warranty they'll replace them without even batting an eyelid.

The 313's are by far IMO the best wheels for the 92/93 but i see so many threads about cracked wheels, milking etc.

To me bmw know they have a problem with these wheels and should be replacing them warranty or not, you pay a high price when buying a car and the same for servicing etc

Don't understand why the dealer didn't just replace the rims under new car warranty before you bought it, instead of refurbing them.
I had a full set replaced before car was 3 years old.
I would imagine as soon as they were refurbed they lost any warranty they had on them. Sorry to say but I doubt very much if bmw themselves will stump up, and if the dealer who refurbed them won't then your stuck,,sorry, sucks, but that's my thoughts

I know but the reason they re furbed them was due to kerbing, not due to imperfections of the wheel hence they couldn't have been replaced under warranty, like the guy above you has said it's not good practice & I might get trading standards involved see what they say

Would you like me to ask my friend (Used car manager @ local dealer) for some advice on the matter? Hopefully it can help get you somewhere with your dealer and give you some leverage.
