v8 vs. 335 i6
I've been driving a e500 while I'm waiting for my e92, and I love the power of this thing. how does a 335 compare??? I think I'll miss the muscle behind a v8

You'll feel fine with a 335; the E500 has a good amount of torque, but it's not so much that the 335 will feel weak at all. If you had an E550 on the other hand, then that would be kind of a different story..

You are waiting on an e92 and have questions on how it will compare to the car you are driving. Have you not driven a e92 yet????

you're joking? E500 doesnt compare to the TWIN TURBO i6, not even close, you will not miss a thing. BTW, there are N/A V6 cars, and I4 cars that have more muscle than the V8

well a 911 turbo doesn't need an 8...hell just look at all the Porsche's...and you get better fuel economy with the 6 as well!!! gotta love the rumble of a large displacement v8 though!!! also makes the car handle better b.c 6's are lighter!!!!

Not necessarily. A car model with two engines available driven the same way. The one with the most power doesn't require the engine to work as hard to move an almost identical weight. You could see the same with the E46. The 330i had a better mpg than the 325i (I know those two both had a I6 but you get the point). Also I6 can weight a lot compare to some V8. It has a lot to do with the size of the block. A I6 engine is as long as a V12 and a V8 is only as long as an I4.

Just came from a V8 S4. I grew up in the Muscle Car era and thought the V8 was great until gas prices started escalating. To me, although the exhaust sound of a V8 is hard to beat, I now don't really car whether the car has a V8/V6/V10/ or in line 6 (maybe even a turbo 4?). What really matters to me is how the car performs. And the BMW turbo straight six (in stock form) is better than the S4. BUT because it has turbos, for a small investment of between $400 and $1300, you can add a piggy back chip and have as much or more power than a V8 and still retain decent fuel economy. Drive a 335i with a SS-TT or Procede and you will forget all about whether it has a V8 or not.

To me, sound wise (nice to hear that is):
V12 > V8 > V10 > Flat 6 > I6 > Everything else.

Yeah but really drive it and you can forget about the mpg theory again. :sad0147:

ROFL... an E500. If u saw the way I whooped on one of those with a PROcede v2 335i you would laugh at the fact that you are even contemplating this issue. E55/E63 is a better comparison in terms of power!

+1. I not sure I understand how someone can spend almost 50K on a car without having test driven the car beforehand. I did three test drives before making the decision and even managed to convince the dealer to crack open a new 6 MT for a drive.

Would you miss velvet if you change to burlap? Yes. You will miss the velvety smooth performance and low end torque when you trade it for the buzzy meatgrinding of the I6 that you have to whip to a frenzy to get V8 power.
That said, you will miss nothing else about a POS Mercedes.

Not trying to be a dick but these kind of questions annoy me a little. Why not just go out there and test drive the damn car, especially if you already have one on order!

For comparitive info, my 335i cleans the clock of my son's '02 Camaro SS (small block V8 dyno'd at 340 RWHP) off the line. Really pisses him off! But hey, they're all fun, right?
