Talking 335i options

Hi everyone. I am new to the forum and currently own a slightly modified astra vxr (300+bhp/360+lb ft)

I plan on getting a e92 335i m sport (n54) with iDrive, and had a few questions about the standard spec.

1)Does the 335i come with upgraded hifi as standard? I have an alpine type x sub and matching alpine amp so plan to use that but want to know the best route for the other speakers.

2)What additional ICE is included if you have iDrive? Such as bluetooth/hands free? iPod integration?

3)Does the 335i come with fully electric seats that have memory function and are they heated as standard?

Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

1) No the 335i doesn't come upgraded as standard.

2) Yes it will come with bluetooth/handsfree. You can connect and ipod using Aux as standard but you need USB option to control the ipod using the idrive controller and steering wheel controls.

3) Yes all 335i's cone with electric memory seats. Although, but warmers is an optional extra.

none electric. none memory. none heated..
Standard, comfortable Leather. (bolster is electrically adjusted).

The base audio is poor as many will tell. Not something I care for but even I can tell its pish.

The CIC usb in glovebox function is great. So it the hansdsfree bluetooth.

Only thing you need to know is - JB4. :-)

jb4 is on my to do list, with a fmic and downpipe
I doubt I will get one with CIC unfortunately. I want an n54 engined one but my budget is £15k so will almost certainly be CCC. I can only find this for iPod integration. Which is very expensive http://www.mstyle.co.uk/acatalog/info_J05BM010.html

Looking for a m sport, coupe, auto, nav. The tricky thing is finding one with under 55k on the clock. Or should I look for one with upto 70k?

I plan on running at least jb4. Is 55k very low for these cars?

Is it worth paying that much if it comes with ccc?

I'm sure there may be different views, but I think it is definitely worth it. Had the CIC installed on mine by Sam (makkan on this forum). Top bloke, ogre at service and the new CIC is much better.

So with the CIC upgrade would it come with iPod integration, not just aux?

CIC doesn't come with iphone/iPod integration as standard...but don't forget the main attraction of the 335 is the lovely engine and noise it makes

Ensure it has warranty. That's my only advice.

If it's just for listening to music from your iPod/iPhone and being able skip tracks/playlists etc through iDrive/Steering wheel controls get a Dension 500.

I had CCC with Dension and it works perfectly, but the idrive side of it is crap and very basic.
You dont even get postcode search with CCC!
I am in the process of rounding up all the bits for a CIC retrofit and every single person I've spoken to about it says its a huge upgrade and well worth doing.

Remember, although it seems like a big expense to do at over a grand, you can buy all the stuff bit by bit to spread the cost

I definitely would prefer to get one with CIC. The car will only be used on weekends so nav is nice to have but not the end of the world. I do want the display and the features and I want to use my iPod via the steering wheels with my sub/amp.

Is the iPod integration the same price for CIC and CCC?

And what is everyone's views on mileage? I have been trying to choose between the following (all n54 up to £15k):

1. Cheaper sub 50k mileage with no nav (£12-14k), then retrofit CIC (£1k)
2. Sub 60k with nav CCC (£16k max), then get iPod integration £??)
3. Look out for a cheaper high mileage up to 70k with CIC (£13k max)

A 2nd hand Dension goes for around £250, the come up for sale every so often.
A new one is £350.

If you want to add your own sub/amp its not entirely straight forward as there are no pre-outs. I have added one to mine via a custom made harness from America.
As my car has Hifi upgrade it has an amp in the boot, my harness connects between the car loom and that and gives me a low level pre out and remote wire without having to alter any of the car loom.

Don't forget, idrive is a LOT more than just satnav, especially if you have combox with CIC

The Dension looks good, just been looking at youtube videos. How does it compare to the iPod integration?
