Good evening, Im wondering if any of you good people on here have experienced anything similar to this.
My dads just purchased a brand new f10, ok not an e90 but.. The sat nav is already out of date by nearly 10 months an that's just in the local area.
Hes already noticed that a roundabout that changed to a junction last year is still displayed as a roundabout.
BMW say they cant do anything and don't really see it as a problem as people don't seem to be complaining, yet my dad already knows of one other person who has bought an update DVD and is disappointed that its not up to date.
How often do BMW actually update the map data, does anyone know? and is there anything he can do or does he have to accept that thats the way it is? It seems a poor show to me that a brand new car has maps nearly 10 months out of date.
Do you think if enough people complain BMW would take note as surly he cant be the only person disappointed by this.

Yes, when I purchased a new E92 in May 2011 the "professional" (haha) sat nav was at least 12 months out of date. A city that I drove by several times a year had a new by-pass that wasn't acknowledged for more than a year, and I came across other instances dotted around the country.

What rubs salt in the wound is that BMW want £320 for each and every update, whereas my Garmin came with free updates for life, and showed the by-pass shortly after it opened.

This is normal mate! My 2010 E90 had 2008 maps on!

Cheers guys, I just think its a bit off paying out all that money and the cant even give you an upto date sat nav.
Does anyone know how often BMW release updates for the sat nav?

Even with the latest maps installed they are still likely to be years out of date - some years ago I submitted some local road closures to Telemap and it was 2 years before I even got an acknowledgement, no prizes for guessing how long it took them to change the maps.

They'll be the most up to date maps BMW have. You can ask them to check but I doubt there will be a newer version. Usually come out every 2 years or so from what I can tell.

If they're up to date there's nothing that can be done.

From memory aBMW release their updates around August but I know many have questioned the lack of up date on their cars hence why people like bmw navigation.co.uk exists I guess

Check out gpsunderground. You can update your CIC to the latest maps for around £60-70, instead of the £300-350 the dealers ask for.

Basically you need to send the last 7 digits of your chassis to someone, and they send you a FSC code in return. Then you buy the latest sat nav dvds from BMW (£20) and pop them in to your CIC, enter the code, and boom its done.
