New brakes, rubbing sound from rear
Hey everyone,
Just took time this weekend to install new rotors and pads. Everything is working great and feels much better, however I have a slight rubbing sound that seems to be coming from the rear brakes. This is only when I am NOT on the brakes. The sound is rather faint, but does correlate to speed. Anyone have an idea what might be going on? I did have to reduce the tension on the rear e-brake, perhaps something is rubbing inside the hub?

Did you adjust your parking brake shoes?

either the dust shield as already mentioned, or your pads and discs need to get bedded.
new discs and pads have a rough surface that can slightly interfere when new. go do a few high(er) speed braking events and see what happens. |

take off the rotor, look at the ebrake and spin it the axel around by hand to make sure nothing is rubbing. You should wire brush the hub of all rust and debris so that the metal is clean. Same with the caliper, guide bolts, and rotor guide. Grease the guide bolts and pads with high temp, ceramic break grease. The stuff I use goes to 3000 degrees. Not that the brakes will ever get that hot on daily driving. Just piece of mind.
