Performance suspension v1 install gone wrong. What to do now?
Hey guys,
Installed the BMW Performance suspension (shocks and struts only) on my 2006 330i with ZSP. I kept the ZSP springs on. We had an incorrect torque value for the lower left rear shock mount onto the control arm and snapped the threads off. The shock is ruined. Now I have performance in the front and the old sports in the back. I don't know what to do at this point. I think the best case would be to find a rear shock that is similar to the performance set and install that. I am not going to rereplace the front struts to match what goes in the back. That was hell to install. Anyone have any ideas? |

sorry that happened. ouch.
I'm not an expert so you probably should get an expert or get some consensus/agreement, but I would think as long as you replace both rears, there are some adaptable options. Some have opined on this site that BMW PS V1 shocks and struts are made by bilstein, but I don't recall seeing any hard evidence. If they are, maybe Bilstein B6 HD would work. Maybe a pair of Koni yellows. The yellows could be adjusted to what you find suitable in terms of firmness and most folks here don't go to full hard because that is too stiff. |

Go to the dealer with the part number on the shock. What's so difficult about it?

I'd be surprised if the part's available....but let us know if you find out otherwise as many of us installed this kit. Edit: David, I see you have the bmw perf suspension, do you have the version 1 and know that the part's available? |

If you do not intend to track the car, what's so wrong with using stock sports shocks for the rear?

hey David not to be argumentative but for the benefit of the OP I suspect this is not the case.
Here is a pic from someone selling the V1 kit. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ht=33500429574 here is a pic from someone selling the V2 kit. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=960175 part numbers are different. Now, maybe the shocks are essentially the same? idk. I wish I knew as I'd be more tempted to buy some yellow springs for my V1 kit....however, in the past Tischer BMW (who sold many of the v1 kits) would post that 'the yellow springs are for the v2 kit, if you use on the v1 kit your doing so at your own risk'. So, I would love for them to be the same, but I suspect they're not. |

The sport shock would hardly be any less with BMW pricing. Just order what is on the shock.

I appreciate everyone's input. I bought the set from Tischer so I'll check their catalogue and see what I can find. The front does not feel appreciably different from the stock ZSP struts so worse comes to worst I'll just buy a replacement set of ZSP shocks. The car is not being tracked. I'm getting new tires soon and I've had these sitting around for when I needed them just in case it threw the alignment off.

Just realized this is for a 330, not the 335. My bad.

Probably. 335 and 328 use the same shocks but different spring rates
