M235i vs 228i vs. used 335i: opinions wanted
Having driven a 6MT M235i and being impressed, I was wondering about the 228i. I see the rated performance is 5.4 sec 0-60, and is about the same weight as my 135i was. What is real-world 0-60 on this car (I would assume slightly faster), and is the suspension and transmission the same as the 235i I drove? I loved my 135i, just wanted something a bit larger, and the m235i is out of my league price-wise. The 135i felt plenty quick; I don't need a faster car than that, but the rear seat was really small. The 2 is a few inches longer back there, perfect as I have a 3 year old.
Seems I could get into a new 228i for not much more than a late model 335i CPO coupe. Thoughts on that spread, performance-wise? I would be ordering the 228i sight unseen; nobody stocks them locally. Performance RWD oriented cars don't sell well locally, I am told, due to our occasional snow. I guess people have yet to hear of this new invention known as snow tires. |

if you have a family and have to drive them often, i would go with the 335i (especially if you have a kid)
I was never a big fan of a "28i" but after i driven the 428i i was totally blown away. i know they're different cars but im sure they are somewhat similar in performance. i thought the "28i" was just a cheap mans bmw, ugly and boring, but i was totally wrong. they're monsters as well. |
