Carbon Fiber Exhaust/Chassis Brace with Spacer
So after putting on my new exhaust, my factory exhaust brace didn't clear. Rather than cut the factory brace or add a spacer, or even both. I decided to create a new one.
This is my first carbon fiber attempt. I'm just trying this first then off to my CF intake. I decided to tackle this first because it seemed easier. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=976988 The Mold - Factory Brace with wood Laying the CF I used the factory brace and added a .25 in wood spacer as a mold. Layered with 3 layers of 6K 2X2 Twill and West System Epoxy. I have a feeling I'll still have to trim this, but at least I'm not cutting the factory brace. Too much resin, not enough vaccum! Cut down Test fit Clears by 5mm I had no clear/gel coat but an extra layer of resin shall do Other brace options M3 Brace: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...4&postcount=90 Factory Brace with Spacer: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...7&postcount=32 Trimmed Factory Brace: Gotta find the link Last edited by peterparker; 05-19-2014 at 09:12 AM.. |

I've been running without that brace for about a month and cant really feel a difference. But if it's there, I'm sure it has a purpose. So back on it goes! |
