REVIEW: CAtuned e90 full coilover
I will admit, I did go out on a limb with this suspension set up, selling a very reputable coilover for a new system. Previous to these coilovers I had KW Variant 2s. The KW V2 were great but they did not go low enough, and lacked an affordable option for front camber plates. I had the CAtuned coilovers installed earlier this week so this will be a “First Impressions” review.
*Disclaimer- I am not a professional race car driver but you probably aren’t either. After my first 150 miles of street driving the suspension feels tight, even at low ride height. Additionally, bumps at freeway speeds are much more stable and comfortable. Cornering is firmer and more confident feeling than the stock suspension, but not as good as the KW. The CAtuned coilovers are more jittery feeling during high speed cornering, but this might be able to be adjusted out through the dampers. These coilovers offer much more height adjustability than the KW, the rear is capable of going another ¾” lower, and the front will probably get you another 2" lower than pictured below. CAtuned Coilovers Feature: -36-way adjustable damping. -Larger ride height adjustability. -Monotube design and light weight bottom mount. -Custom spring rates available. Bottom Line: These coilovers are great if you want to go low without sacrificing ride quality. These coilovers are very streetable. Once the heights and damper settings are settled in I’ll update the post with some of my thoughts. Pictures after the coilover install. I'm in the process of getting some 19s refinished, aiming to tuck the rear and lower and camber the front some more. Fronts can go MUCH lower.

No problem, they will be doing a group buy for e90 coilovers soon, so if you're interested or know anybody who might be, tell them to shoot me a pm.

Does look like a BC Private label. However the E30 versions the r3v guys seem to like. If they are a BC Private label it means it is mostly the same with a smaller piston versus the 'factory' BC stuff.
Should fit/suit needs for most. |

UPDATE: It looks possible to manage the spanner wrench in there (depending on what height you're at) but if you're going to adjust it a lot, it would definitely be easier to remove the rear control arm.

Partially, the KW's did not have camber plates but they also didn't go low enough in the front or rear. The rears had no threads left, and even though the front had threads left to go lower, the progressive spring's outer diameter was too wide to clear the wheel if I went any lower. Not to mention, the KW spring rates were too soft to make driving low comfortable. In the end, the CAtuned coil overs offered dampers designed to handle higher spring rates, custom spring rates, and camber plates. For me, it was a no brainier.

Yes, the coil overs are still strong, no clunking or odd noises. I commute about 110 miles a day and they're honestly pretty comfortable.
