stereo purists would say no.

And frankly, if the stereo install is done right with the right kind of processing, you'll already get the impression that the vocals are coming from a sound stage in front of you on the dash. Making a center coax kinda useless.

As far as I can generally tell, about the only use for a center channel speaker would be if you were watching movies in your car.

Just like your thread about rear speakers I don't see a point in upgrading the center channel. With time alignment it's not necessary.

Exactly! Don't bother with rears or center channel and instead spend the money on getting the best front drivers you can along with some processing. With proper tuning, your car should sound like the soundstage is in the middle. Spending money on the center and rears is a waste of money.

If you delay the signal to the left speaker the sound from both front speakers will get to your ears at the same time, and it will sound as if you're sitting in the center of the car. I'm using my aftermarket head unit to do this.

The rear channels are actually the underseats and I have no rear speakers or center channel anymore.

yes thanks 325 I know how time alignment works. I was curious how others were doing this processing. I think you need either the aftermarket head unit or ms8, pxah800, helix, dsp8 or mosconi type unit which are not all that common here.
