No, but I wouldn't mind having one. Suppose to be a big improvement over the previous model.

I think it will be a huge improvement over the previous car, especially because of the independent rear suspension. The more I read about the new Mustang, the more it sounds as of they reverse-engineered much of the E90. The numbers that will be out out by the four cylinder twin scroll turbo are very similar to the 335i.

The 4cyl is over 300hp and Torque. Ive taken a few orders already on them. The v8 will always have my heart. I just picked up last week my second E92. Missed the drive of the car, the mustang will not have that attachment to the road. No matter what the Mustang is a touring car.

I'd be tempted, except I'm at the bottom of the depreciation curve on my e90, so it would be a dumb move financially.

On paper, the '15 Mustang is a great car, and the turbo 4-cyl is impressive how much power and torque it generates. Handling should be better with the new rear suspension setup, and the interior in higher level trim can run with the best of what Gemrany has to offer.
That said, Ford is taking a huge gamble, a gamble that could pay off. The Mustang carries a lot of emotional baggage, especially with older generations. It's a muscle car with the V-8 rumble. It doesn't have razor sharp handling, but in capable hands and properly tuned, it can be a monster on the track. On the street, the presence and the 0-60 numbers are intimidating. But with a new generation of buyers and gas being over $4/gallon in many parts of the country, they will likely be drawn to having the most with paying less. Gen-Y and Millenials won't have the same emotional attachment of what a Mustang should be. They'll buy for the cool factor. But to compare a Ford product to BMW is apples and oranges. Let's be real here: Most of you would not own an E90, or even consider owning a F30, if, say it had a KIA badge on it. |

Owned a new gen mustang. Car is complete junk. Lots of power but that is pretty much it. Bland interior. Poor build quality. Within the first month, had to get the rear shocks/struts replaced because they broke (normal driving). About 11th month, had to get engine mounts replaced because they were causing vibrations. About 17th month my battery exploded causing a whole bunch of melting components in the engine bay. Maybe bad luck, but the engineering @ Ford is not even on the same planet as the engineering @ BMW

I really don't see a huge gamble here. The car is restyled and still looks like a Mustang but also follows the new Ford design language started with the Focus. I'm a bit over the Austin-theme myself, but it seems to be playing well in the market, so I can't see an issue with the new design. The chassis offers 3 engine choices, 2 transmission choices, and 3 trim levels, and a convertible version. The Mustang has a good reputation as a reliable car, and returning decent fuel mileage, and is highly tunable with great aftermarket support; and all at an obtainable price. And I'd doubt the car has a reputation for post-warranty ownership fears as BMW does. And it is clear that purpose-built versions such as the Boss 302 are as every bit a high performing car as BMW M. Ferrari thought the same thing in the 60's and look where that left them at the time.
People can rag on how it handles but nothing a set of coilovers and some other suspension bits can't sort out. Suspension upgrades are done on our almighty BMW's surely a lowly Ford can be upgraded in that department. I realize you don't get the same refinement as in our e9x, they are certainly different from each other built for different purposes. I don't get it why people talk like we have Bugatti's here. It isn't a matter of swapping some suspension bits. It's a design issue. Maybe Ford has it sorted out in '15, but we'll see.

I just upgraded my garage after 5 years (previous BMW loyalist). Before I pulled the trigger on what to buy, I seriously considered if I should support our economy and buy whats made local.
However, car buying is a huge investment. You have to look at many factors and not only whats made where. If we want to buy a red white and blue car, I think toyota camry tops the list (has the most American made parts and is made is USA). This perticular Ford is a huge improvement. However it still lacks refinement. I know we can put rough numbers as 0-60 and braking figures. But thats not all thats important. Whats really important is 'how well things are put together', can I trust a Ford to go over 150k miles? Does it have all the luxury I could get in a few year old German car? how about the technology? In all honesty, this car lacks all above. Yes its fast. And yes it makes a good sound.

You are absolutely correct. I was a little vague in stating that. Really meant that it is possible to have a great handling mustang with the proper suspension bits not just throwing anything on there.

I would not trade my car ever for a ford. That being said I have heard they are a lot better built than previous models. Still would not.

I wouldn't mind having one. Even the new EcoBoost engine sounds good on paper even though you don't even consider a Mustang/Camaro/Challenger without a good ol' Murican V8 engine. Really diggin' new style, new independent rear suspension is welcoming addition and I'm sure the interior will be miles ahead of the previous gen. You know they're going to sell a crap ton of them though. I just hope the MyFord Touch has improved because that's clearly one of the worst car systems out there right now.

It's funny that everyone keeps saying they can't handle for shit when the V8 GT's will lap a track just as fast as their beloved E92 M3 for half the price.
For what it's worth, I would look into getting one as my next car after the E90 335 is done with its DD duties.
