Dimming Homelink Rear View Mirror
My 2009 335d non-sport model does not come with a auto dimming rear view mirror, so I was thinking about replacing it.
Does anyone know if the 2009 models are pre-wired for the auto dimming mirrors with the Homelink buttons? Or will I need a harness of some sort and get the power from the front overhead lights? Also, does anyone have a part number for a auto dimming rear view mirror with Homelink that will fit my 2009 335d? Thanks |

I would take this question over to the "main line" E90 forum as it's generic and has nothing to do with diesel. There are way more people over there and so increases your chances of an informed answer.

Thanks. Found a used one in good condition for $150 and $31 for the wiring harness. Also found an install guide, which looks pretty simple to do it yourself.

Is the car pre-wired? When i was shopping for a car, i came across one with no alarm. I found out after a certain production date in 2009, the wiring wasn't included. With the alarm there is a motion detector mounted within the interior overhead light (not the front one, the middle of car one). The headliner was going to need to be removed to run the wiring. Labor was going to be expensive so I bailed and found another car with alarm already.
I ask this as you are talking about your rear view mirror and i was thinking about wiring under the headliner. Good luck |

Needed to by a wiring harness for the extra rear view mirror features. Harness was around $35 from South Atlanta BMW. There is also a detailed install procedure online that shows you how to install the harness. Received the mirror, harness should arrive tomorrow morning.
