Max power on stock block

Is anyone doing any research regarding how much power the stock block can handle?

I read the crank is forged... is this accurate? Anything else forged?

cheers.

No one has really swapped a turbo large enough to really know yet. There are some people who have run up to almost 700whp on the stock N54 block, so I don't think the N55 is any weaker.

Please don't forget the N54 comes with forged rods, while I believe the N55 rods are cast......vast difference in power handling capability :-) Comparing the engines in not apples to apples.

In the one series forum I have seen discussions that say 350-360 RWHP is the safe maximum. I think N54 has a forged crank as well that the N55 lacks.

BMS put a modified turbo on an N55 a couple months ago and got 460 whp if I remember correctly. Like the N54, I'm almost certain fuel delivery limits are going to be reached before the strength of the block becomes insufficient

Well, believing and knowing are different .

We need to know if the metal used for the engine is different to really get a sense on how it is. Or just wait until someone puts a big enough turbo to blow it up - lol.

I am sure the engine can handle 500 crank hp. I am more worried with the zf box really.

All the talk of power limits I've seen has focused on the transmissions. Even on that subject, there is no consensus. My unscientific approach is to wait on a few people to blow something up, confirm details surrounding the incidents, compare setups with others who have modded without trouble, pick a middle-of-the-road setup for myself, and hope not to become part of the former sample.
