Took out secondary cats now having a lot of white smoke..

Long story short I removed my secondary cats to get a little more sound and since then A LOT of white smoke has been coming out. Do I have an exhaust leak? I also have catless downpipes.. White smoke only comes out when I'm at a stop or going very slow, never at high rpms.. Very embarrassing lol. Any input? Thanks!

Your turbo seals may be failing.

hahahaha... clasic... I did the same last year for Shift S3ctor and the car was smoking so bad I about died from embarrassment. Have new turbos sense then and a new cat back. Funny thing is if I let my car idle for 5 min I get a cloud of white smoke... I plan on keeping the car for a few more years so I'm just going single turbo and be done with the smoking turbo issue. Always wanted a 600 whp pump/meth car and single is the only way to go.

What year is yours? You might qualify for the turbo replacement under the BMW extended warranty.

Your turbo seals are failing. You have to replace the turbos. The smoke will get worse. I had the same issue and new turbos fixed it.

You're covered. Check in with your SA at the dealer to get it done.

You still have the secondary cats and the mod just regulates the voltage so they stay in parameter. But I'm a firm believer in secondary cats. Spend the money and get a high flow race cats if you don't have them.

Listen to Wedge. My car smoked immediately after secondary cats were removed. I added 100 Cell race cats and now no more smoke. Keep in your secondary cats to avoid smoke and smell issues.

In New York you have to pass an OBD test no sniffer in newyork, But i do agree the secondary cats are a must to avoid smell/smoke

There is quite a bit of misleading information here.

Removing the secondary cats doesn't cause smoke!!! Bad turbo seals cause smoke!

All you're doing by adding high flow cats is masking the problem at hand.

I as well had smoke issues as soon as I went catless and I immediately replaced my turbos which was over 2 years ago. I haven't had any smoke since.

If you're smoking you have a problem with your turbos, /thread
