Single turbo and custom setups chime in please.
So as some of you know. I'm rebuilding my 135I as a track car (single or staged turbos). So the car has some front end damage resulting in me having to replace some parts that I think could be upgraded for cheaper.
So first off electric fans. I ordered 2 Spall 30101538 11" Medium Profile Fan - Curved Paddle Blade - Pull. Combined CFM of 2466. Should fit perfect side by side with a custom shroud. Mishimoto rad once it is available My vacuum canisters are toast. Should I go with an aluminum one and switch to a single canister. Was thinking this summit one (link) I looked at a custom power steering cooler but can't find a core cheaper than the ECS price so don't really think it is needed at the moment. While I have the motor access and I'm ordering parts what are some of the must have stuff you guys have done to your cars. EDIT: Added a couple pictures.

Sorry i'm not quite clear, is your question basically "what good items can i knock out while i have access to the motor"?
Or is it specific to the needs of a single- ie coolant reservoir relocation etc. If it's the former there are loads of things you can and probably should do. Numerous gaskets, belts, on and on that will be so much easier.

Just curious- what is it about the stock/"normal" aftermarket cold side piping that needs replacing? Is it just a matter of finding space for the coolant tank on the driver's side?

You have to run the return line from the bottom of the reservoir over to the passenger side and I don't think the 335i line will make the run or make it kink free. You'll also have to extend and run the level sensor wires from the passenger side over to the driver's side.
