E90 Exhaust Hanger

This is a pre-LCI 328i E90 exhaust. I have the tips hanging a little lower than it used to when it was new. When I lifted up the pictured rubber hanger, tips seemed to re-align in the back.

I was thinking about replacing this (Part #18207590154). But I see the metal studs have a bulged up ends. So this means this cannot be simply inserted? It has to be cut, then re-inserted, then re-welded?

My last car, I wrapped a metal strap around the bushing, causing it to be lifted slightly. I wonder if that could work

just pickup an exhaust hanger removal tool and some WD-40, you'll be all set to replace that hanger.

I noticed my tips are hanging lower than before.

Even if u lift up both rubber hangers with hose clamps all the way, I notice that they are still lower than they should be:

What else can I try to lift the tips about ¼" ?

Spray the metal part down with a bit of WD-40, get her all lubed up and just pull it over the nob. They will slide over, its very common of most manufactures to use hangers like these.

If you are really having trouble even with a touch of lube, use a screw driver or small pry bar and stick it through the center hole and twist the rubber hanger a little to walk it off. They should been pretty resilient.

OP, sorry, I gotta flame here...

This is seriously the only thing you have to worry about?

Like someone else already said. Buy a pair of $10 exhaust hanger pliers and use some WD-40 on the studs. The hanger will slip right off.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Is the hangar support bolted to the chassis? I seem to recall being able to unbolt it. Maybe it has shifted or you can readjust it so it hangs a little higher?

Although I might be mistaken... haven't been under there in a while.

I referring to #10&12
