VRSF 7" intercooler question
for those of you that have a intercooler that doesn't use your stock quick disconnect pipes did any of you use any type of sealant to prevent boost leaks in addition to the band clamps? I read a post talking about using hairspray on the plastic fittings that came with the IC but I wanted other opinions. right now the band clamps are the only thing on the piping.

No. If you put the silicone connectors on properly (evenly seated/etc) and the clamps are also put on correctly, you will not have leaks. I do think it's not a bad idea to thermally cycle it then re-tighten, or just re-tighten after you've driven around a couple days.

I have the same IC and haven't any problems with boost leaks just using the supplied clamps. I used some soapy water during the install to make it easier to slide couplers on but that's it. Just make sure you have the clamps positioned past the beads on the piping, get the clamps square on the connectors, and get them good and tight. You might want to check them in a couple weeks to make sure they haven't loosened up.

Just be sure not to tighten the clamps too much... I'm not sure what clamps are included with the VRSF, but the clamps on the ER are monstrous and can crush aluminum pipe. On the flip side, I popped a hose off once haha. Easy fix either way, but I didn't use anything aside from maybe a little spit and some elbow grease to get the hoses on.

I have the 5in vrsf and the clamps hold boost very well however after 6 months the clamps finally popped off and I got low boost codes. I bet that would have never happened with the OEM IC but at the same time I'm running high boost so the piping takes more pressure
