205/55/16 to 225/50/16 be ok to run?

I'm not a big wheel guy so I'm going to be using my stock 16 inch wheels. It has the 205/55/16s on it now but was thinking of going with a set of 225/50/16s. I checked and they are the same diameter but the 225s are just about a half inch wider overall. i would like to have a bit more meat on the pavement so should these be ok to run? I'm lowered on H&R spring but still have alot of room between the tire and outer part of the fender. Think they will work ok?

Those tyres have almost exactly the same diameter only 0.02inch difference. How wide is the wheel? Normally the 225/50/16 can be used on wheel that is 6-8 inch wide. Most common is 7 inch wide. I don't see any problems as long as it fits to the wheel.

225/50R16 is a very common upgrade and works with no problem.

What tire did you end up going with? Any pics?

I went from my stock runflats in 205/55/16 to Michelin Primacy MXM4 in 215/55/16 and they have been great, still trying to wear them out after 40K miles! Next am thinking about Michelin A/S 3 in the 225/50/16.

Here are some pics of the 225-50-16 BFGs with H&R sport spring with 10mm spacers on the front and 20mm on the rear. No rubbing or anything. Don't mind the bug guts on the front

I have the 225/50/16 which came as standard along with the sports suspenion but mine are bridgestone run flats.
How do find the standard tyres handle and ride over the run flats has it had any negative effects on this and does it make the car feel a bit soft on its suspenion.

If you could help with this would be great thanks.

I bought my car used so it didn't have the run flats on it but when I bought my corvette it had runflats on it and when I bought new tires I put non runflats on and it seemed to handle alot better than the stock goodyear runflats.
