July 13-20 - Metlife Stadium - BMW Ultimate Drive Event
BMW is holding an event at the Metlife stadium parking lot for 8 days from July 13-18. There will be a FREE 2 hour autocross in a 2series or 5 series (you pick), a day long car control clinic in an M3!!! ($650), test drives, a teen driving school, and skid pad demo in a 3 series and X5. After the event, it states that you will receive an incentive for a new BMW.... probably with restrictions like the last 4 series event .
This event was recently held at Gillette stadium, and I'm sure some forum members attended. I would like to hear about it. It sounds like a BMW PCD-type experience, which is a light autocross with some instruction, and some other skid pad and braking demos. I've been wanting to flog on someone else's car, and a 2 series fits the bill nicely. I signed up for a morning autocross. Who else is going??? http://ude.bmwusa.com/overview.cfm Last edited by Wah; 06-13-2014 at 08:38 AM.. |

If you have an F80/F82 on order, I would say this is definitely worth it to sharpen your skills before you take delivery. I bought an M Roadster last fall and it has reminded me that I needed a reset on some of my bad habits from driving in commuter traffic.

I'm signed up for a BMW 6-series event at Poconos Raceway on the 15th, and the AutoX at MetLife on the 16th. Needless to say, my wife isn't too happy with me. Lol...

I think its a by invite only event... my dealer asked me if I wanted to go. Ask your dealer? Its a 1/2 day (morning and afternoon sessions) with instructors on 4 road courses in a M6GC, 6 series Msport, and Alpina B7. Sounded like fun so I took the day off.

I attended the Poconos Track Day event sponsored by BMWNA and my BMW center. The weather forecast looked a little iffy the night before, but it turned out to be a non-issue (for the morning session, at least). The day consisted of autocrossing in M5, M6, and M6GC, followed by runs behind a lead car on one of the road courses in 6 and 7 series (all versions). On the back straight, we were able to reach speeds of 110+mph... we were behind the leader, so he kept us in check. After we got tired of that, the pros took us out on hot laps in M5s and M6s on the same track where we hit close to 130mph on the back straight. All in all, it was a good day beating on someone else's car. I will say that the cars they brought were very odd choices for the track (760Li on a track?) but I am not complaining... Where else would I get to drive a land boat like I stole it? Also, if this event did anything, it made me absolutely certain that I would never buy an M6GC. Ever. @pillpusher84

I just finished my second day of BMW events. This time it was the 228i autocross at Metlife Stadium. Now, the thought of using the 228i (instead of the M235i) may not sound appealing to some people, but let me just say that if I had to choose between doing the M6 autocross over or the 228i autox, I would probably take the 2 series. The car is just so much fun in a small package, and as much as I wish it were an M235i, I would be lying if I said I didn't have the most fun driving in months. Again, like yesterday, rubber was laid down on the track. This time, however, real professional track instructors sat in shotgun teaching us as we ripped around the autocross course. My hands were shaking from an adrenaline rush after the first run, it was that much fun. Just some shitty pics:
