19" Upgrade or 20" BMW Accessories
Upgrade to 19" rims for ~$1,200 USD or go all out with 20" BMW Rims @ ~$4,500 USD?

My opinion only... 20" are for "show"... 19" (or smaller) are for "go".
If you want performance first, go 19. If you want looks first (although subjective) then 20. Tire selection will be more limited and more expensive for 20".

You can... but they are generally heavier wheels with all of the implications of that. People don't generally put larger wheels on the car to go to the track... they almost always use smaller wheels.

Absolutely true!! I prefer the look of 20's but if someone is planning to track their car even somewhat regularly, they don't make a lot of sense... hence the "show vs go" comment. For the street the relative performance difference is very likely nominal.

Track
If I intended to track it I'd a bought the CCBs for ten grand... So I already paid $1200 to upgrade to 19s I may as well fork over a few more Benjamins and get some sick ass twenties is my thought process... I may not. I'll decide when I see it in person.

I was thinking about that actually and it does make a lot of sense. I'm sure I could fetch at least two grand for those babies if not more. Are you suggesting maybe Craigslist or something?

Sell them here... if you are willing to ship. Lots of people will have interest... I might have interest as a second set (winter or track use) to keep the ones on my car in better shape but I would bet they would sell in a flash at the right price.

I voted 19", but it is not an "upgrade" in my case: 19" are standard here in Canada.
I would have still opted for the 19" though, even if it meant more money. |

Shipping would be a royal PITA for something that big. The buyer would have to incur all the shipping costs and I'd also have to make a dime on the rims themselves so... It is unlikely. I think local is the way to go for me (although Austin is a pretty small market).

To each his own.
That wheel has zero concavity and will make an M3/M4 look much less aggressive to me than one with the 19" or even 18" stock wheels. Not to mention you lose wheel width which precludes going with wider rubber than stock. If you want 20" wheels, I can't think of a compelling reason to go with these wheels vs. an aftermarket set made for the car. |
