Coilovers Availability

Im picking up a YMB F80 on the 21st! And I would love to order my suspension setup now!

Anyone know of any brands that have it already?

Thanks!

Hello Kit,

Thank you for contacting KW Automotive, unfortunately I do not have information on if or when kits for the F80/F82 will be released. I can only suggest checking our website periodically to see if we have updated it with components for this application.

If you have anymore questions please let me know.

mmmmmm motion control should be hot. They already have an application for the F30/F32, so it should be a fairly easy conversion to the F80.

From Ohlins:

Hey Damion,

Thanks for emailing us. We just released the E82 1M kit, so the F80 should be in the works. Unfortunately we don't have a concrete ETA just yet. We should have a better idea mid-August. Thanks!

KW should be coming out with their coilovers soon! LTMW had their F82 and F80 sent out to them and are back already.

I'm very Ohlins vs Motion Control. I had Ohlins on my E92 but heard so many good things about the MC's. Custom spring rates available too.

It will likely be at least 6 months to a year before anything is released.

A motion control option will be available very soon. MCS is ready to produce a set and I am in process of working with James clay at bimmerworld to get the setup finalized. He needs to get a couple of measurements that he should have by week end. I will keep you posted

Ohlins will take their time to get things perfect, which involves days if not weeks on the 7 post shaker rig, then 6 months of road and track evaluations before release their kits. What you will get is a super high quality product with near zero issues. You guys with motorbikes or had Ohlins on your 135/335/1M/M3 know how good their dampers are.

I can get these made from MCS in 2 weeks but I need the upright diameter where the coilovers slide in. I'm in convo with Eibach on spring rates at the moment.

I heard back from Ohlins just now. At least a year for any offerings from them but it's on their important list.

They don't want to over promise and under deliver. That is a safe time frame.

From James Clay at Bimmerworld:

Update for you. We feel like this will be the same as E90 non-M to E90 M3, and I think even the same adapter pieces will work. We have the F80 rear mounts. Camber plates will be the hangup - that big front strut bar... Working on that now with Ground Control. We could use your stock front strut mounts, but I don't think that's the route we want to go. I am actively working on this with them. We will get the dampers going soon (once we get the final measurements) and all we will be waiting on is the front plates, which will hopefully fall about a week behind damper completion. Looking at sometime in September I think.
