Closing the loop after the local dealer got greedy…. I was literally writing the check, when they came out and said they forgot to add some maintenance package.

so the same day, I placed a factory order with the the SA that I had ordered my M5 euro Delivery from way back in the old days.

Anyways…my new order arrived last week and I got them to drive it over and deliver it on Monday. They did push back on delivering it a tiny tiny bit, but I didn’t want to waste my day in a dealership.

I’m coming off a 2015 S63 AMG Sedan. It was new when I bought it, so I know it pretty well. In my view it was definitely in the top 5-10 best luxury Sedan ever. I usually get a new car ever other year, but every time I went and did a test drive i’d be underwhelmed compared to that S63.

Compared to the S63:

Overall impression is very positive! I had actually thought it would be a step down & it’s not at all.

1. It’s more sporty and feels way more nimble than I anticipated. Drives was smaller than the Mercedes.
2. the four wheel steering makes a massive difference in maneuverability.
3. The overall experience is better. I had forgotten how good a BMW engine sounds and how good they were getting that sound to your ears.
4. Really thoughtful with technology and pace Change. It’s a “modern” car With the emphasis on “car”. it feels like the best of both. I LIKE driving it, It has just enough of everything.
5. I think it looks better every time I see it. The overall size/dimensions of the vehicle, and the design are perfect
6. I’m really pleased with the Brooklyn Grey. I wanted something light, but I don’t like white. I’m so happy I ordered that color.
7. I really missed having a BMW! I wouldn’t have left, but that F10 M5 slightly missed the mark. When I looked to i switch out BMW didn’t have a car I liked - this was during that time in the early 2010’s when Audi caught up to them and they were spending more R&D dollars to respond that they were to move forward. - they really didn’t have anything compelling during this time. it seems like they’re back and better than they were before..
8. I am underwhelmed by the B&O sound system. I’m coming from the 2500 W Burmester in the S class. That system may be the GOAT. I’d probably just get the stock system if I had the order again.
9. This car will get very popular. Almost everyone in my business circle is very aware of this car. I didn’t know this when I ordered it, but when i tell them I bought one I was surprised by the level of knowledge on this specific product. Seems I’m standing in some clearly defined target statement.

Question- Can anyone think of a good reason to connect the ESIM card?

Congrats! Connecting the E sim card can be a real pain in the A$&! I just run hotspot off my cellular phone.

Esim is worth it for connected drive in 2 very useful ways. First for the wifi if you have kids that want to connect tablets or your own tablet/laptop. The other is voice recognition uses the internet and better understands what you are asking the first time. One other thing is the weather to keep you informed while driving from city to city on long trips.

Also your transmit/receive in your vehicle will have a better reception than your cell phone for data use. (just imagine a larger Antenna on anything) I work for a one of the big 3 wireless companies and have an good understanding on how that part works.. lol

Gwinnett place! When our cars arrive there they get me in and out within a couple hours. Where was the greedy dealer, somewhere else in Atlanta? The X7 is awesome - and the M60 is incredibly powerful. Congrats

Nice color combo.

It’s amazing how quick things go when they deliver. Just sign the paperwork and you’re done. My M50i was delivered to my house…30min tops and most of that was chatting about the vehicle.

At the dealership it always takes a few hours even if the deal/price is already done.
My M60i a few years later, spent 2 hours at the dealership. One cool thing was they had a private delivery showroom, so you could spend some focused time looking at everything. But after that it was a waiting game even though we came in on appt.

The greedy dealer was Nalley in Decatur.
