So, I'm tempted. I'm looking at the nuts and bolts, comparing what this model gives you, compared to the 2020 BMWUSA site configurator for a M50i as comparable as you can get to it. (MY2021 configurator not up yet, and I don't want to dig into the 2021 prices, which are fairly comparable anyway) So here's what I get:
2021 Dark Shadow Edition: MSRP $119,495 Comparably configured and equipped 2020 M50i: $110,480 Difference: $9,015 MY2021 available options NOT present on the Dark Shadow Edition, according to the specs listed by the OP in this thread: Dynamic Handling Package Luxury Seating Package (Ventilated and Massage seats) Space Saving Spare Trailer Hitch Note that the OP pictures in this thread show Rear Seat Entertainment, but not listed in the specs. This does not include MY2020 options that are removed for MY2021, to include Ambient Air and Night Vision. Also does not account, if buyer wants to add the $850 Captain's Chairs, which is the only available option for the Dark Shadow Edition. So, if everything is accurate, it looks like it's about a $9k premium over a comparably equipped "standard edition" M50i, for the matte paint, exclusive wheels, and exclusive combination of interior materials (available in other options, but not in this combination). And the car is well equipped, but not fully loaded. (as I would want it to be) Grrrrrrr.... |

More in-the-weed details:
- It looks to me like the seatbelts have special racing stripes on them, but don't appear to be quite full //M stripe colors. - Just like the Rear Seat Entertainment is shown in the pictures, but not listed in the specs, the door pictures show the buttons for the ventilated/massage seats, but it is also not listed in the specs. I wonder if they might be included after all, and the specs are just not quite 100% yet. (the BMWUSA website doesn't have any details at all) EDIT: Yes, other auto news websites are reporting the Luxury Seating Package in it as well, haven't seen anything yet about RSE officially. Think we need to find the official BMW press release. Last edited by Wild Blue; 07-23-2020 at 08:05 PM.. |

No, I think it's still open. The link in the OP is incorrect. Here's the fixed link:

It's the same M seat belt option for X7s in International markets - eg in UK included on the M Sport Plus Package. In the USA, it's the same M seat belt on X3/4 ///M, X5/6 ///M. UK M Sport Plus Package Close-up of X3 ///M with M seat belt X6 ///M with M seat belt - they're there just thin like the X7 Dark Shadow photos

Ehhhh... fuck it. May regret it, but I just placed a deposit for one of these. Maybe my decade long next-car research and 3 year long scrutiny of the X7 has finally come to an end. Not sure about it, but worst case, the deposit's refundable.

Interesting special edition. I'm all for the interior - anything with night blue, LOL.
Love BMW Individual Frozen Arctic Grey metallic matte finish, BUT would hate maintaining the frozen paint finish cause way I'm lazy but yeah definitely have to PPF + ceramic this puppy. Only poop is... they should have made emblems in Shadowline.

Love it I don't see anything so limited edition other than the interior colors and materials for the seats. The rest is plain simple and nothing new. I would've expected special limited edition wheels at the least. Special badging, different grill, maybe blacked out headlights interior, totally white /smoked taillights Door projectors with the badge ... show me something limited

X7 Dark Edition A.K.A:
A normal X7 with every option selected, BMW frozen paint and Shadowline trim. What's so special about this again? |

I've never owned a matte paint car before, but do like the look. Quick research seems to indicate that PPF and ceramic is still possible on matte. Would need to protect the special paint job, and yes, would require extra work. |
