My new X7 M50i
I just took delivery of my new X7 M50i a couple weeks ago and based on information here I loaded it up with every option except captains chairs. I am glad I ordered when I did because it looks like the DHP is tough to get now although I’m not sure I notice that package much because without driving a X7 that doesn’t have it makes it hard to tell.
Although I notice many here like a bit of color to there cars I ended up getting sapphire black with black merino interior. I ordered it with the 22” 755 wheels and I didn’t notice the make those with black accents vs cerium grey for the 40i. How does that make any sense that those wheels aren’t available for the M50i with the shadow line option? As a result I ended up buying some satin black Vossens already. I also got Suntek PPF on the front, the whole thing ceramic coated and the front windows tinted. The only issue I have had so far is that when I picked up my X7 it was at the end of the day and they closed right when I finished the paperwork. Right when I turned on the radio I noticed the tweeter above my head sound like it was blown. It was crackling/screeching but everyone was on their way out of the dealer already and service was closed. It was so bad that it was giving me a headache listening to the radio. I took it to the dealer last week and the service advisor told me he was thinking that it wasn’t a blown tweeter but some minor rattle or something because he said some people that come in there complain about some very minor things. He got in my car, turned on the radio for about 5 seconds and said holy crap that’s annoying and asked me how I dealt with that. I told him how it was giving me headaches and he understood completely. The tech pooped off the tweeter cover and saw the issue. One of the prongs that holds the speaker cover in place was bent and put a hole in the tweeter. As you can imagine they have to order a new tweeter so who knows how long that will take but they removed and left the cover off so the crackling/screeching isn’t there. All in all, so far so good but there is a lot to learn about this car. I haven’t had time to dial in the seats yet because there are so many adjustments it’s almost overwhelming. |

Fair enough. I wanted to get my wheels first before I posted pics but here they are. This is on the first day of delivery so I don’t have good pics. I threw in a pic of what was replaced.

We loved the Durango. It didn’t have the best fit and finish and wasn’t the most plush but the sound of the exhaust and torque off the line were awesome and it handled really well even though it was pretty stiff even in comfort mode. It also had a lot of room behind the third row seat for its size and I liked how the rear seat entertainment screens folded down into the seat when not in use.
I usually get bored with my daily drivers after a couple years but I really liked this one but it was time for something new. We were looking at a Hellcat Durango but they wanted $5k-$10k over MSRP and I don’t play those games so I got the M50i which is very different and much more luxurious. I did, however, like the ease of use of manual second and third row seats compared to the motorized ones in the X7 which just take too long. |

Small world, I too had a Durango when my kids were small then a SRT Grand Cherokee as my family hauler. At the time I also had my German luxury/sport vehicles and going from the FCA/DC highlighted how poorly made they felt going back-and-forth. Just too noticeable. They were what they were. It was too drastic of a difference and I had to stay all German vehicles I drove a lot. My wife even got out of here Wrangler Rubicon phase to a Audi A4 and never looked back. Your X7M50i is 3 zip codes away from the Durango in build quality/materials. You will love it.

I finally got my tweeter fixed under warranty a couple weekends ago and I just got my wheels installed yesterday. No more cerium gray for me.
Car is dirty and it’s going to rain so no clean pics yet. |

Yup, mine even came with with a similar issue I read about in your thread. One of my back wheels by the hub has a paint defect. Not enough to do anything now but when I put some winter tires on my stock wheels I am going to send it back to them to get fixed.
