Why? I'm only considering 6MT ... do you think their AT-SMG and 6MT break a lot? ... but it's all covered by CPO warranty too...

As far as I know, its Carbon Fiber dipped, not fabric. I wouldn't do fabric.

Seriously, any info is appreciated,- can you tell me why 6MT sucks on M5? Do you mean it produces many problems? or else? When I test drove one with 6MT, it seemed fine... very smooth, maybe a bit too soft at times, maybe not... just a BMW M 6MT.

I own an SMG M5 and have driven a 6MT M5 as well. Let me just say the 6MT really kills the car. The gears are soo far spaced apart, not to mention the clutch was very awkward and had a high engagement point. The SMG is perfect for the M5! The gears are spaced perfectly and the shifts are lightening fast. I'd highly recommend getting the SMG M5 over the 6MT, based on my experiences at least

I was just in the same spot u were in feb, found a white 335I with anything BUT tan interior = perfect and white 335 sport prem idrive harder to find.
Problem it came with 90's style wood trim, yuck!

Went online to Tisher bmw and ordered the complete aluminum trim kit $650, swapped it myself using different sized plastic putty knives, and a set of torx sockets!

I justified the expense bc the car was below market value, and when I sell the car the wood trim will go back on, and the aluminum trim will go up for sale to recoop my expenses.

I sold a blown g35 and got nothing extra for all the mods, thiss 335I will be a complete part out when done. Down to the floor mats.

Thanks for the input,- I never drove SMG, but drove DCT M3 and it was awesome. I wonder how SMG compares to DCT... would probably have to drive both.
When I drove 6MT M5, I did miss 6MT on my 335i,- the 335i MT seemed somewhat quicker than that of an M5... and maybe that is what you mean?

I didn't buy a car because of the trim. Glad I didn't.

Well it's not for an E60 but this is a good E90 guide...I don't know how fundamentally different it is for E60 but I doubt it's much

My brother has an E60 M5. He tells me that 99% of the members on the forums have the SMG trans. The tranny shifts wicked fast!
