I love the new door chime- it does get kinda annoying when you don't put your seatbelt on though...

Does it really sound like that youtube recording? That sounded like crap. No offense. Maybe I need to listen to it on headphones at home to hear it better. It must be the speakers I'm listening on -- I can't believe I'd be the only one who would think it sounds so bad.

Yeah....my friends 645i would do that sound when he didn't buckle his seatbelt. After about 4 mins we would scream at him to put it on because it is so annoying.

Too bad you can't associate .WAV files with the various functions like you can on the Macintosh and Windows. Imagine for the snowflake you could have a .WAV file of "Brrrrrr". You'd be able to have different chimes or even a voice announcing the alarm, i.e., "Baby, it's cold outside!"

WTF?!?!?!?! I could literally not be more pissed. I know this sounds like the biggest BS you will ever hear, but the whole reason I was about to get iDrive was for that chime. If it is really standard now, I am going to go nuts! Hopefully my dealer can give it to me through a software update or something. i inquired about this a long time ago too...http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45131.
P.S. Yes I know this sounds really stupid, but I would much have that chime than the cheap ding I have now.

You can change it to make it louder or quieter. I dont have idrive so i have to change it through the stereo, but it should be under an audio menu in idrive. Look for "gong"

You have an 06, but with nav. The OP is saying that all cars get a "gong" now, where cars sans nav had a beep.

When I saw the thread title I was hoping someone had found a way to disable the dam gong. In my last Porsche you could have one of the techs at the dealer disable the chime through the software. I never tried on my E46 and it was easy to disconnect on E30/E36. Anyone tried to get it disabled on an E9x yet?

In the Chrysler commercial for SYNC, there is a sound that is very similar. To me it sounds pretty much the same.

I was about to say the same thing! Does anyone have a clip of what the beep sounds like?
