Headlights remind me of the Aztek which was one of the ugliest cars in recent history.

The front end is too busy. I don't think this LCI makes the pre LCI look dated the X5 down to the 2 series looks just like the pre LCI X7. I wish BMW would have took the Land Rover Range Rover route with the styling, we will see when the sales figures come out in the near future.

Not a fan of the screens either. The current outgoing ID7 models have a cool cockpit feel with the digital dash covered, now its just exposed and more open to glare I presume? And no more gear change lever anymore to rest your hand on lol. A bit tacky overall and paying more for less

Many people questioned the look of th G8X…it is a sales success. I am certain the X7 LCI will be the same. I believe I will be adding the 2023 X7 to our stable!!🔥

Looks pretty clean, except...the lower front bumper. What a mess.

Split headlight/running lights are the worst design ever. How does anyone think this front end is better than before?

Interesting…..so it's not getting the M seats and not getting the quad tips the original pics showed. In other words, there literally is no difference from the old one except the Idrive (which supposedly is worse than ID7) and ugly front end (oh….and they got rid of the ambient lighting across the dash for a Chinese crap looking M emblem on the dash).

All that and you have to pay MSRP for this car. No thanks.

What a departure from the current cohesive design.

This side vent for example looks cheap and oddly out of place??? Looks like something from Chevrolet.
A lot of it has to do with the lack of a leather binnacle around the gauge cluster as on the current model. There is no flow from components to the gauge cluster now. It's too choppy and abrupt. The old S-Class got around this design flaw by including a leather binnacle to mask the edges of its long one piece screen. BMW looks like a after thought or a unfinished implementation of its screen.

100% agree - look at the new 7 series. This shows how this new design language should be executed. With the X7 refresh it's a bit of a jumble and not at all cohesive - inside and outside.
The 8 series LCI has this same rectangular shapes now in the front bumpers as the vents do here inside the X7. Odd design language.

Once beautiful x7 is now sort of hideous in both base and msport. Sad this happened. I7 isn't nearly as bad.

Yep - I think it’s because it is not a designed from the bottom up product. All over inside and out there are these clashes between the flowing lines and soft curves of the outgoing design language and the harsher angles and straight lines of the incoming design language. When the two are such visual opposites it just doesn’t work to me. However, I’m sure such details will go unnoticed by many.

To say I’m not a fan of the front would be an understatement, but I recognize that car design is subjective.

My gut reaction to BMW’s recent polarizing features (larger kidney grilles, more outlandish headlights, etc) is that they come across as overcompensating.

There's still no third row seating right or am I wrong here? It's insane how small the storage space is on this car. I thought for sure there must be three rows of seating with an option to fold down the last row until I paused the video.

I don't have an issue with M badging for the most part. Although I feel like out if all the places on the vehicle — they should have left the M badging on the grill to the full M cars.

Hated this thing at first but the more I see it especially in this "in the flesh" video the more the pre-LCI looks dated to me. Sure other car makes have split headlights but they also have many other shared features with BMW however BMW just does it better.

The exterior is an all around win for me but the interior is questionable especially the strip lights leading to the illuminated M or X on dash…

Overall many X7 owners calling it hideous off the bat are a little salty that theirs will look outdated near this one on the road. You can feel it.

Typical straw man argument. Change is hard?? What a joke.

Interestingly enough I've usually been on forums pumping new BMW designs. I'm also, according to tests, one of those so-called early adopters that get new ideas, products going. But this this thing is flat out fugly. Just because it's new does not make it better, more modern. It's a combination of 1972 and 2025. It's worse than the Aztek and a step back to the same horrible design.

I bet you think Ruscha is better than Rembrant.

I like the combined instrument/infotainment screen (like my G-wagen's), but agree that it appears pasted over the older arrrangement, as if BMW is rushing into transforming production and avoiding retooling the entire dash in a thoughtful and aesthetic manner. I prefer the "dated" appearance of my '22 X7's design.

I grew up nearby Buffalo, and would never subject a $100K vehicle to the perils of winter and the salt that's thrown on the highways there. As for those who believe "all season" tires include Buffalo winters, go talk to someone at a tire shop -- there's a reason the "M+S" sidewall marking on "all season" tires is so small as to be nearly illegible.

I have to say, it’s all relative. I love it overall. I’m not coming from a BMW (or any luxury brand) so it’s an amazing vehicle from my perspective. Are there elements that are contentious? Obviously. It’s not a home run. The purists aren’t happy with it. And as you note, there’s obviously some saltiness from existing owners. I like the front end. Is it busy? A little. But it’s still the Grill and I really like the overall look.

if you’ve studied the history of the automobile at all you’ll know that there is always a struggle between designers and engineers when designing cars. Plus the finance department. If there wasn’t everything would look like a prototype. This version is one where they weren’t aligned. There’s obviously a vision for the exterior of the brand and it’s split headlights. Someone high up obviously championed that even if there’s been some pushback. The purists aren’t happy with it. Time will tell whether they stay or not.

My biggest issue is the screen. I love the actual screen, and look forward to getting acquainted with it, but it should have been incorporated better rather than looking like it was attached with a binder clip. I have a feeling this is an area where engineers and finance won over the designers.

In any event, that’s not going to take away from my driving experience when I’m at the wheel of a 520hp V8, immersed in luxury.

Well said. I can most definitely agree with your statement on the screen. Everything else will absolutely grow on most and won't stop sales as past controversial designs/changes have had the same effect.
