Parking in parking garages
Hello, so I am a government employee living and working in Germany At a Air Force base. Currently I have a 2017 X5 and a 2019 M5 competition. My wife really likes the X7 and we get military pricing with BMW. So my question if anyone would know how hard is it to park an x7 in a parking garage. I know in the states the parking garage are a little bigger than they are here in Europe. I think most are 2 meters high roughy 6 ft 6 in. When we park our X5 in park houses it always seems tight as far as the parking spaces.
What we are looking at getting is the 2020 X7 M50i |

I've been worried entering low parking garages beneath old buildings, enough to lower the car to make myself feel better, but the normal ride height is still under 6', so you should be safe there. The increased length is quite a bit to deal with, even in the US there are some shallow spots that I hang out on, the wheelbase is 6.7" longer, with an extra couple inches behind the rear axle compared to the F15, which is a plus if you can hang over a curb stop that much more. My biggest concern was the width as I was already pretty tight next to my other car, the extra 3" in width is barely noticeable, though. The better cameras made up for the 1.5" lost on each side.

Ya parking garages here are very tight width wise, at the Frankfurt airport I usually have to have my family get out before I pull in then I have to squeeze out and be carful not to ding either my door or theirs and that in the X5. I never take the M5 there scuffed up the rims once and never again. The main reason for the X7 is I know there is plenty of room for me I am 6ft6 and 236 so I need the leg room and even in the x5 I feel cramped in the passenger side when my wife is driving she is 5ft1 and my son hates sitting behind me in the X5 so the more room in the back is what we are looking at as well

I also have integral active steering, I don't know how much difference that makes in tight spaces for turning (i've never done a side by side test) but I certainly notice the difference out and about. Door dings are a regular hazard here even with large spaces and actually I sometimes wonder if people are more careful when its tight than when they fling the door open in a wide space.

Integral Active Steering (IAS), at speeds up to 30 mph, steers the rear wheels up to 2.5 degrees in the opposite direction, giving the effect of a shortened wheelbase for enhanced maneuverability. When changing lanes at speeds over 50 mph, both front and rear wheels turn in the same direction, giving the feel of an extended wheelbase.
