Pretty shocking the quality! You'd expect quality from the prices paid.

Am waiting for replacement parts in Germany to come in.. going thru warranty..

So its true that bmw is outsourcing stuff from china... I read somewhere that they also get their carbon fiber parts from china now. Which is why i wont pay $1000 for that diffuser... Thats insane to have this and CF parts loosing the clearcoat.

I have a couple of OEM CF parts and I believe they say they were made in Slovakia. I don't have the OEM diffuser, but I doubt its made in china.

Just installed yesterday: spoiler and diffuser are made in Romania and Slovakia, just can't recall exactly which where.

I'm having my local paint guy re-clear the OEM diffuser with PPG clearcoat to make sure it doesn't yellow.

I just received the backordered part yesterday from a major MPerformance dealer and they are already significantly peeled off.

Should I keep these and try to fix them or should I return them and hope for better ones? I can attach pics if needed.

thinking of returning them - check this out:

Also, it appears that one of the clips that hold the backing plate on are not tight and therefore the gill just flops around.

what the hell is with the QC for such a simple piece. If they can get the chrome version that comes with the car right, I don't see it being too hard to do the same for these.

What's wrong with putting a dab of glue, guys? Takes all of 30 seconds...

Have you seen the price? Why should anyone have to do a hack repair job on an expensive, new product?

To me it's all about the result. I'd rather spend a minute adding 4 dabs of glue to 2 side gills and call it a day, or spend a lot more time replacing the gills with the the stock ones, and then dealing with returns and refunds. Not to mention, ending up back with the chrome gills.

Perhaps as a cautionary tale for people planning to buy new ones it's worth raising the red flag, but if you already own them it seems like much less of a hassle to apply a little creativity.

Just my 2 cents worth of glue.

Great point. I'm just a firm believer that when I spend money...I expect quality. That's not a hit against the supplier either. Just saying.
