Looking for Wheel Advice for ‘24 X7 M60i Build
Gents,
I’m looking for helpful wheel advice before my build locks and goes into production over the next week or so (I hope). Living in Chicago, I am replacing my 2019 Cayenne Turbo with a ‘24 X7 M60i as my needs now include a 7 seater with towing capacity (neither of which my Cayenne sufficiently provides). This will be my winter DD, family hauler and tow rig, so it will be in use in both summer and winter. I have a 50-mile round trip daily commute into the city and our lake home is 300+ miles north, so we’ll be putting a bunch of highway miles on the car and I want to have a comfortable ride. My plan is to buy a dedicated winter wheel set to swap out seasonally so my question for you guys is: Should I opt for the 23’s in my build and down size my winter wheel set to 22’s, or go with 22’s in my build and go with 21’s for my winter wheel set? I don’t need my X7 to be my “Sporty” car (my 2023 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cab scratches that itch), but I do want this car to be a “Sporty SUV”, so that’s the balance I’m trying to get clarity on from you guys. Thanks for any helpful advice from those who have 23’s and love (or hate) them, as well those who have 21” or 22” winters. Last edited by Judge Smails; 02-17-2024 at 08:27 AM.. |

I did find this thread on this very topic, sorry for my poor looking skills before I posted my request for help:
https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1952386 Any additional thoughts appreciated as I need to lock my build shortly (I’ve currently spec’d the 22’s)! Last edited by Judge Smails; 02-17-2024 at 09:19 AM.. |

I have 22's on mine for summer and switch to 21's for winter. I can't fathom why I would need/want 23's. The only benefit is if you like the look. Not like performance is going to be a big change and you said you already have that covered.
It is time (15K miles) to replace the 22's which kind of blows but if you can afford all the toys new tires (even at 2-3K per set) every 15K miles shouldn't be an issue. I do notice a slight difference between the 22's and 21's when I floor it, speed around corners, etc... but more often than not I am thinking should I just leave the 21's on? I'm sticking with 22's in warm and 21's in winter. The car is a blast regardless. Comes down to looks and minor perceptions. |

Sorry if this is a hijack but it’s it’s at least on topic.
Does anyone with technical understanding know if we can use 20 inch winter wheels on the X7 and XB7? I have a setup on my X5 that is 275/45 R20 with pirelli scorpion tires. Jw if I should buy a new winter setup for the X7 or if I can use these. The BMW dealer seemed to say that they recommend 21” minimum but I thought I’ve read a bunch of folks on here saying they use 20s. |

That said, the 275/45/R20 tire size is too far off (4.1% difference) from the stock size of 255/55/R20 so the tire size itself is the problem assuming everything else fits. |
