2024 X7 Coming Soon(er)??

I stopped by my local dealer yesterday and the person I spoke to said that if I order on March 1st I will be getting a 2024 X7. He said that was the case based on his reliable source at BMW. He also said there were no changes and I sent him a link to the now famous miles-long BMW5and7 thread I don't think I have seen 2024 prediction but may have missed it.

We are in a time when model year isn’t as important as changes in build options and return to offering back premium options and premium build materials. BMW is still stuck in a cycle of not being able to build what they already have or meet the higher build standard they use to have. Dealers still don’t know exactly what they will get from their order sheet until it’s actually delivered and they go over it to see what is missing.

What good is a model year newer if they continuously keep stripping and compromising from every year before it? BMW likes to employ the “maybe the customer won’t notice this is gone or that is missing” from the year before and they’ve employed these tactics every year now for the last three years.

Yes agreed. And they were not even telling the customers that the features were gone. As a 2023 LCI owner I am extremely happy with it coming from a 2020 X5. When I was looking at X7’s it got to the point where you couldn't even get ventilated seats, no touchscreen and I think the center temp display went to black and white instead of color. I even think the top section of the rear gate became manual for a little bit also. No electrical lift. So I waited for the LCI to come out and really the only reason I didn’t get a pre LCI was because the price was so damn close to a new one and I got stupid money for my trade. And it would have been a needle in a haystack to find one with what I wanted.

DHP and IAS is still unavailable for the 40i and who knows when that will be back. Glad I got those options in my 40i build.

March production is for 2024 model year vehicles. They are adding highway assistant. I don’t know about any other changes but have a production number for a 2024 vehicle.

Yea honestly it’s not like DHP and Black Extended Merino will be available just because they flip the MY. Does it matter if there are no changes?

Difference between my 2021 X7 M50i and 2023 M60i is minimal besides the obvious exterior and idrive 8 and screen changes. Quality, fit, and finish is the same. Materials and placement is the same as well.

Features-wise, lots of new ones added, some things removed or just moved into the idrive 8 menus.

Think removing the rear door touch locks has been the only downgrade I’ve noticed. Some will say laser lights being gone is a down grade, but I’m perfectly happy with the LCI headlights.

Think really only the late 2021 and early 2022 production models had huge impacts from supply chain issues.

Hello rjabend
In fact ordering for 2024 XB7 had already started a few days ago. Dealers were given the ability to order 2024. The spec's and build sheets and packages had not been shared with them yet, but they can order a 2024 XB7 for you anytime now. As for the regular X7, it is not opened for ordering yet as of today, but March 1st sounds reasonable. They can however take a deposit and claim a spot for you, but that does not formally reserve a BMW production allocation but rather placing you in the que of the dealer's internal que (which means nothing in BMW factory language). However, 2024 XB7 is formally opened for orders now. Will share as more formal dates become available.

Quick clarification: My original thread that you shared had nothing to do with prediction or claim that 2024 coming soon/sooner. I did not make a prediction. I was only noting tech changes. As Mystro said, tech changes or announcement has nothing to do with SOP (or start of production with that tech). We may see the announcement made April/May or June, but production including a given new tech to start July for instance. A given tech may also get added to same/current model year early (mid production year changes). I added clarification to my original thread in Post #267 to avoid confusion and made a comment about the 2024 XB7 actually already available for ordering.

I also provided a summary of some (now formal) April updates that the will be formally getting. Link below

Thanks. I understood your original post as you just explained. Just relating my dealer's comments.

No problem. I also provided a summary of some (now formal) April updates that the will be formally getting in that thread. Same link posted above. You can now tell your dealer person that he is already wrong by saying (there are no changes). Most dealers do not know anything anyway other than what is available in publ;ic domain and have no problem to lie (instead of saying I do not know) to make you put your order ASAP.

does it mean we have strong signal that the full/better driving assist on highway will be part of the 2024 MY from the get-go?

That is what my dealer told me but I wouldn't take that as absolute. I have had dealers give me erroneous data before. BMW5and7 has excellent sources and he may confirm but I don't think he has the 2024 confirmation yet.

Intriguing that you’d get a ‘2024’ instead of a 2023. Did the dealer ask about adding any of the new options (rumor in these blogs seems to be that Highway assist will add 600 to driver assistance pro package).

Will be interesting to see why BMW5and7 finds out later this week on all this. I’m following closely as my order is in 112 stage with projected PC pick up in March. May consider a delay if the build on the updated versions are starting that soon and if there is an opportunity to add/adjust any other packs that may be offered.

Others have hypothesized that the availability to choose these options may begin soon- though the build may not start until later. While it would be nice to get the latest stuff, an extended timeline wouldn’t work for us to.

Either way- wait and see (and thanks for all the info. It’s been interesting to follow all this).

On my 2022 replacement because of an accident I just ordered another 2022. Price stayed the same but:

No;
Rear wheel steering
iDrive wheel touch screen
color temp screen
wireless charging pad

But at least the price stayed the same

Where does your vehicle show in the tracker on myBMW? We have a 40i that’s supposed to be built Mid-Feb and shows scheduled for production right now. This will be our 2nd attempt at getting a quality 2023 as the reason why we have a new order is BMW is buying our current one back. I was kind of hoping we’d luck out and get the 2024 LCI.
