Ottawa - buying&mounting Michelin PSS, recommendations?
I have the stock bridgestone runflats on the msport rims, rears are just about done, fronts are on their way.
Want to get the Michelin Pilot Super Sports (seem to be quite popular on forums) Id like to go a tad wider on existing rims (if its not a terrible idea). If I'm not mistaken stock sizes are 215/40-18 front 245/35-18 rear so something like: 225/40-18 255/35-18 Open to other suggestions as well. Was looking at a respectable/reliable place that wont scratch/damage the shit out of my rims getting new rubber mounted. Any places you guys recommend? Never orderd from Tirerack but heard that is a decent option. I dont mind paying a bit extra if its done right and balanced properly. Spend a lot of time cleaning my car and trying to take care of it so if it means paying an extra 50~100$ and doing right I'll go that route. |

They'll do it at your home. Top quality service and equipment. Top notch tire changer and balancer. I bought a new set of winter rims and tires from them. Perfect install without a single blemish on the rims. They have excellent prices as well.

I bought from kanata rim & tires, 1450$ for stock 1M sizes, bought 2 sets together (with a friend) hence the low price.
friend got his changed at the shop after buying with no issues. i got mine done at elite and paid probably 2x what he paid for the same result.

I always buy from Tire Rack - ordered 2 sets of PSSs (225 front / 255 rear) from them - great street tire, but not robust enough for track use. I have since switched to Direzza ZII's.
For mounting, I have nothing but positive things to say about Frisby Tire in Kanata (at Hazeldean/Eagleson). They're knowledgeable and professional, and really care about their work. I've gone there over 10 times in the past several years. |

Best price I found in Ottawa was with Ottawa Tires Direct (Scott &Parkdale). Their site lays it all out, prices included. Their price for my tires was about the same as Tire Rack's "all in" price. Hunter Road Force balancing at a good price. I kept my stock 18"263 wheels but squared up the tires w/225/40/18's (better balance in the 128). I went with Sumitomos at about $160. The PSS were about $250. at the time. That and switching to Bilsteins- huge difference in both ride comfort and handling.

hey Guys, bumping this thread again.
Any other recomendations? I've settled on going 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 Rear. Strong US dollar vs CAD leads me to think ordering for tirerack may not be the best option right now. PSS in 255 are sold out at costco at the moment. Oh yea I'm paranoid about a place with high volume scratching the rims when they swap the tires. Are people taking it to the dealer? Or going directly to shops with hunter road force balancing. Don't mind taking it to dealership, but I doubt they will do any better than a good shop. Need a good tireshop recommend! Thanks |

https://www.facebook.com/SlickAutoSolutions I got 2 sets of PSS last fall from there last and will be getting Direzza ZII Star Specs this summer for tracking. Pricing is similar to Ottawa Tires Direct, but service is much better. |

Are you sure about the rubbing? I've read a lot of posts saying 255s in rear is fine. Seems like a lot of conflicting information. I hope if it does rub that it isn't "too" bad. and will go away eventually.

Yea, Ive heard conflicting reports too. I carry 3 passengers fairly often and have to go over some large speed bumps sometimes so figure I have a greater chance of rubbing, especially being slightly lowered on BMW PS.
