A/C dead at 46K miles :/ Any similar experiences?

I've started noticing a drop in A/C earlier this summer but having driven only 400 miles or so since May, I didn't had a chance to really confirm anything...

I did a 300 miles round trip last week and found the A/C to be working at about 10% of what it used to...

Any similar experience?

Luckily, my extended warranty ends Sept 25th, so I have an appointment Friday to take care of that! And a full inspection done on the car before warranty ends. I think that's a 150$ well invested.

Obviously you don't read this forum much. AC evap is a common failure item on these cars and needs the dashboard to come out to replace. Will def be covered under warranty.

My compressor went belly up at around 50K miles, luckily I had an extended warranty as well...

They will pull the dash out, make sure you tell them to be extra careful with not scratching the interior and assembling it right the first time. On my ex 2011 m3 they scratched some trim pieces and left a rattle that they could never fix. BTW my Evaporator died at 22k, funny thing is that two days prior they had a car with the same build day as mine with the same problem.

Did 450 miles, they found the evaporator had died, I also paid 150$ to have them do a full review of the cars condition prior to warranty end... They didn't found anything. Slept in town and drove back 450 miles because they didn't had the part in stock. I'll need to go back for the replacement within the next 30 days...(I was told it's a 10h job so I'll need to sleep there over night $) and do that 900 miles round trip again :/

Only good part of that whole thing is that it's covered. For the rest, it'll cost me about 5-600$ in hotels, restaurant, gaz etc...

That sucks but it least it's covered. My dealer did mine in a half day and I was amazed! No rattles, nothing. They must have them down to a science seeing that they do so many.

My AC emptied 3 times. The first 2 under warranty. During the 3rd one they finally diagnosed the ac evaporator. BMW did a goodwill repair fortunately.

The blower motor wiring harness failed in mine @ 73K miles. Completely frayed at the resistor. Replaced blower, FSU and harness for $690. The evaporator, as mentioned, is another common issue.

That was last Friday on the 19th... Since the work order is now open, I have 30 days to go back and do the repair under warranty. They were supposed to get the part Wednesday...So I plan on heading there on Oct 2nd or Oct 9... hoping to get the car rattle free in the afternoon the day after...

Gosh I hate the fact that they need to take my dash apart...

I've seen totals from $2500 to $3000. Mine was closer to $2500 from an indy mechanic.

AC evap failure here too. Nice to get covered under warranty as an entire dash removal is required.

Just had my evaporator replaced under USAA extended warranty. My car has 29k miles on it. A/c had sucked for a few thousand miles. Total cost without warranty would have been $3,464.23. My 335d also just had evaporator replaced a week ago under warranty at 27k miles. Service advisor says it happens all the time on e9x cars. Should be a recall. Pretty ridiculous.

Just an FYI... the new evaporators from BMW come with a two-year warranty for parts and labor. So the odds are that the issue wont come up again. (at least for another two years)

Recharge will work for a while. Condenser causes a slow leak...

Is this a e9x issue or an M3 specific issue? Never heard of this in the e90post while I had my 335i. How do you tell when there's an issue? Any way to prolong or prevent this? Would turning AC off before turning the car off help?
