100 Octane
With all of the modern electronics in this engine is it safe, recommended, or noticeable, to put 100 octane, or mix in some 100oct at the pump?

I was always under the opinion that it did more in a high compression engine if it didn't have a tune. taking a long coastal drive this afternoon and can't hurt to find out

I suggest getting the JB4. I think you will enjoy it, especially if your looking to run 100 oct or better numbers.

Put 100 octane in the car for only half a tank as it is offered at most gas stations in Germany. No performance difference unless you are psychologically influenced easily or have a butt dyno deficit disorder.

There is no enforcement of octane at the pump in the US, so if you are tracking your car putting one gallon of 100 octane in the tank to guarantee your fuel is really 93 will help. As the engine gets hot there is more tendency to knock and for the computer to pull timing, reducing power.
Have not tried it in my M3 (still in the break-in period), but I have datalogs showing this is beneficial in my 2006 LS2 Corvette. |

Correct I'm referring to 100 AKI. Tracking my ESS-585 E92, I always poured at least 5 gallons of race fuel as a precaution. I've seen first hand instances of poor fuel (93 to be specific) causing blown motors on track! Better safe than sorry.
