odor in the trunk
On Friday, I unknowingly spilled some food-liquids in my car's trunk. I only noticed the odor on Sunday.
When I lifted up the trunk floor liner, there was a pool of liquid inside the plastic bin where the spare repair kit is. It's easy to clean up the plastic part with soap/water, and I have it propped up to air out, but the liquid also soaked into the carpet-cardboard liner. (most of which is the lid, but also some on the side). I really don't want to buy a new lid liner, I haven't looked up the P/N and cost yet, but do you guys have any tips on how to remove the odor? I tried standard baking soda and letting it sit and it didn't work. Then I tried standard 409 cleaning spray and scrubbed the shit out of it, and there is still an hint of odor. I rubbed baking soda into it again after the 409, and still smells. I have a decent shop vac, and I'm close to just ripping it all out of my trunk, do a complete scrub down, and then vacuum it all out. |

You really don't have to feed your hookers while they're in the trunk. Trunk Monkeys, maybe.
I've seen guys hanging their trunk carpet at the high pressure car wash and wash it that way... then hang in the garage to dry. |

I think skating should be fine as e.g. My floor is either fabric coated fibre glass or a high glue content paper board (cardboard) Drilling holes for retro fit cargo net and getting a ton of shivers confirmed that for me. You may get some pilling if you scrub to hard, the fabric coating isn't that robust

anyways, I'm afraid of not being able to completely dry that cardboard and do permanent damage to it. Plus, it's not just the lid, it's also the liner that's harder to remove. |

good tip, thanks. Only way I can tell where the liquid spread to is putting my nose close to each part of the trunk and sniff it out. I really hope it's not in the battery compartment.

Pop the trunk, and air it out with a fan for a hour or two. Then go buy a air freshener (name brand preferred) and toss it back there... Problem solved.

Simple pile the trunk high with hookers and wait 1 week. Natural smell of your car will be restored. You can slightly speed the process if you pick them up in tenderloin.

Put a bowl of vinegar in your trunk ( about 1 liter is ok ) , close trunk and all doors and let it sit overnight ! Btw...don't forget to take it out the next morning when your pulling away ! Will the vinegar help ? Of course !
