It has been discussed in the past, the M4 DTM uses a V8 because of regulation. As of 2017, all DTM cars will be running 2.0L I4 turbo engines . Power will also be up from 480hp from the V8 to about 600hp from the turbo I4 .

600hp I4 will have some neat tech can't wait till it trickles down. The sound however will never be the same.
