Wanted Auto Protect warranty claim review
As promised on another thread this is the review of my latest claim with Wanted.
This was for my daughters 2006 Mini Cooper S. I only use the Platinum protection plan with $0.00 deductible ...I see no point in using any other. I dropped the car off @ the Mini Dealer on Wednesday for the fallowing issues to be repaired. 1.) Rattle in the drive belt area. 2.) Intermittent oil leak on my tiled garage floor 3.) Vibration when at idle. The short version of the story is the repair cost just over $1,426.02 that Wanted covered. I did have to pay for the oil and belt, they are maintenance items and was $78.89. No big deal there...Wanted covered the rest. Colin is awesome to work with...I don't know what they pay him...but the guy needs a raise or something. Always professional and always takes care of everything and makes it super easy. For the long version read on. Here is the long version. A few mistakes along with way from the dealer and the car was finally finished today (Monday). I was a bit upset about that as it took them a few times to get it. Here is a list of all the items replaced. Crank Pulley Vibration Damper Drive Belt Oil Pan gasket Right engine mount Transmission support bracket. Transmission mount Thursday: Dropped the car off that afternoon to get the est and get the ball rolling. I paid zero at drop off. The dealer called me back and said they have the parts in stock and the car will be ready by 5pm Friday. Great! Friday: Wifey and I went to pick up the car and we where told that we owed the remainder of the price wanted wouldn't pay. My first reaction was WTF! Colin was already gone for the day so I paid it and went to take the car home. I sent him a email and left a VM. As I get into the car....it still shakes but the rattle is gone. So I had the service manager go for a ride with me and he agreed that it was not fixed. I decided to leave the car there as I didn't see the point in taking the car home. Saturday: Colin calls me and professionally lets me know he will take care of it and will not have to pay anything but the oil and belt. He didn't say it, but someone messed up. So no worries there. Dealer calls me and lets me know they had to order parts and that they will be in monday morning. Great...car is left @ dealer until monday. Monday: I go pick up the car and everything was fixed and all is happy in Mini Cooper S land. Dealer in formed me Wanted would refund me for the parts I paid for originally and I failed to call Colin but I'll give him a call in the morning and get it take care of. In summary this repair cost almost as much as my warranty and it's good until 12-15-2019. Wanted always takes care of me if I ever have a issue or even a general question, I just give Colin a ring and it's taken care of. No drama, no fighting, nothing. He just gets things done end of story. |

Thanks for the review. The question is what happens if we have a claim on M3. M3 costs at least 3x regular BMW 3-series or Mini cooper in parts. That's why many extended warranty don't provide coverage for BMW M3.

Colin was telling me about a claim on a 911 Turbo and it was over $23k in repairs. They also covered my Viper and the LS460L so they cover just about anything. I asked about a 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo and they DO NOT cover that. lol |

How much did you pay for the warranty? I inquired with Colin, quoted me 3K for 5 years,100k miles for the ultimate coverage on my 2012 M3 with a year of original warranty left, he said the extended warranty wouldn't start until factory one ended

I checked around many warranty companies. Finally settled with Colin Green. He gave me the price, coverage and felt like he was going to accessible.

Do these warranties work if you have tune in the car. I have BPM stage 2 tune. I wonder if because of this tune they would not cover engine related stuff

Give Colin a call for a official answer. But it should be fine. The mini has a cat-back, tower braces and slotted/drilled rotor with HP+ Pads. They seem to be ok with minor bolt-on stuff. Obviously no N2O or anything crazy. But I think one member here has a VT2-525 and its coved but not 100% sure. |

I asked him that question once. He said he loves what he does and has lots of repeat business and has no plans on leaving in the forseable future. I told him if he ever leaves he has to give me a two month notice.

Also, Colin seems kinda pushy with the sales. If you buy it today, I can get you you 100k miles/ 5 years for $xxxx. So that also kinda threw up a flag.

I am looking for an extended warranty myself by the end of the year as mine is expiring, I am interested in Wanted, but disturbed if you look at his posts he has had seems to be the official spokesperson for Wanted for the m3 crowd

I didn't end up getting one, but if I did, I'd go through Assurant Solutions. That's the company BMW uses for their extended warranty plans. I figure it's basically like cutting out the middle man. I felt more confident with them that the work would be covered due to their close relationship with BMW.
That was my conclusion anyway. They cost a bit more than some of the others, but way less than an extended warranty through BMW. |

I talked with Assurant as well.
They were 3900 for 3 years 45k and 5800 for 5 years I believe. It was hard for me to believe they were that much more than Wanted for similar coverage.
