Help: retrieving lost item under seat leg extension

Recently a few things have fallen into the spaces between the front driver seat and the leg extension and did not fall out underneath the seat. I also cannot see them nor feel them when trying to get my fingers underneath the piece of leather between the seat and extension.

Does anybody know of an easy way to get to these items to retrieve them? Or is removing the entire seat the only viable option?

many thanks.

I find it hard to believe nobody else has lost something to the seat monster.

Im trying to think of where it fell. Are you referring to the side of the seat. Between the seat and the center counsel? The seat extension should have leather covering the crack when it extends out so idk where the item would fall through.

^ +1 My seats have a small piece of leather between the leg extension and the main seat, preventing anything from falling through...

What were the items. Possibly a magnet would help? Remove the seat?

It's not metal so a magnet won't work.

It's under the leather between the seat and leg extension part. You'll notice on both sides the leather does not connect leaving a gap small things like coins could fall through.

Is it possible to remove the leg extension without removing the seat?

I would imagine the leg extension would come off somehow. I don't know how though...

edit: maybe try getting one of those thin, bendy, claw grabber things. Places like Autozone sell them. I know this is a great description, but they are usually like 1-2 feet in length, flexible metal with like a 3-4 prong claw at the end. Stick that down the sides and see if you can feel it/grab it with that.

I had this exact problem with some loose change. Would rattle in there and drive me crazy. I could fit a single finger in the gap (that's what she said) and nothing else. The solution for me involved a spirited drive and taking corners fast enough to force the change towards the drivers side where I could slip a finger in and pull it out.

Did the gap loosen up with repeated fingering?

I never even noticed the gap in the seat extender.....I am gonna have to check that to see if I lost anything in there. Good luck getting things out. Maybe a stick or wire coat hanger with some duct tape on the end.

How about simply removing 4 bolts and tip the seat?

I have this problem now with vac floor plates. If I drop a screw or something when working on the car it isn't coming out unless I disassemble the damn plate!

An update for anyone interested.

The leather between the seat and leg extension is attached with clips (for lack of better term).

If u pull up on the front starting from the side where the leather "connects" to the leg extension, it will easily pull off of the connection and you can retrieve anything that has fallen below it. It is easily reattached by applying moderate force back to the connection area.
