What Else Can I Try ?
So, since about the first week I've had these pads, they won't stop squeaking. A few months ago I installed Zimmerman Front Rotors with Stoptech street pads. I originally bedded them in, then maybe a week later the squeak began. I periodically went out late at night to get them hot, but this would only solve the squeak for a day or two. Yesterday I sprayed the rotors and pads down with brake clean, then went and did about 8 almost ABS stops, and the squeak was gone for about 24 hours. Next up is to sand the pads and rotors; Im think 100 grit. Do you guys have any other ideas ? They squeak loud after a good bit of driving and it literally gives me a headache. At this point I feel like I will need to go get a flamethrower and burn these things before they stop squeaking.

Sure the squeak isn't coming from the caliper side?

Brake squeak is caused when the pad vibrates or oscillates in the carrier(brake caliper). The problem is not the rotors.
Try using some brake pad grease/lube - on the BACK of the brake pads. Also... maybe try replacing the clip inside the brake caliper.

Going to go grab some grease from the store tonight then, and put that on. Should it be a generous amount ? Any spots other than the pads' backing plates ?

Just a thin covering. Only on the backing plate.

I would also replace the spring clip at the top of the brake caliper. Its job is to prevent the pads from rattling and making noise. bmw p/n 34106786062 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...=34&fg=05&hl=6

The little packets at the auto parts store always work fine for me.

I use genuine Brembo brake pad grease. It is really good stuff. Luckily for me, all the Honda OEM brembo brake pad sets come with four tubes of the stuff, and installation of the pads only requires one, so I get 3 free tubes with every pad install.
It is a really, really, really thick copper grease of some sort. I just put it on the ends of the pads. Last edited by MightyMouseTech; 05-01-2015 at 09:02 AM.. |

OK guys so the brake squeal paste is on. Should I re-bed the pads / rotors ? Because obviously they may not be in the same position as before ? Please let me know !
