Powered Top Problem
Tried doing a search - no luck.
Normal operations of opening the powered top: 1) Top unlocks & Windows rolls down partially 2) Top goes down 3) Top relocks at the down position 4) Power motor stops running and the light next to the button goes off It was warm enough here today so I decided to put the top down. All was fine until step 4 above, the motor that locks the top down keeps going as long as the button is pressed. If I stop pressing the top down button, the light next to the button is flashing as if the top down operation is incomplete even though the top looks completely down and secured. Anyone seen this? |

yeah I know was just there to fix a suspension problem a week ago. Just making sure it wasn't some switch or knob I might have forgotten.
Plus since it's the roof I might take out the Reinhold remote module so they don't blame it. |

Stock:
- Press unlock, then press and hold unlock again. Roof opens and windows go down completely - Lock button does nothing to the roof and there is no way to close the roof and windows away from the car. Module: - Press unlock three times (no need to hold) - Windows go down half way, roof opens up, windows roll up completely. - Press lock three times (no need to hold) - Windows go down half way, roof closes, windows roll up completely. That means when I get to my destination, triple lock & walk away, the car locks, roof and windows close up. If the roof is up and I triple lock, the windows will roll up. |

When you put the reinhold module in, did you already have the oem top down feature? Did you remove the OEM ? TIA

Yes, the OEM feature was there and is still there. They do not conflict with each other and no stock functionalities lost. So I can put the top down by triple unlock, or unlock and hold. Note that even though the roof goes down by either method, the resulting window position is different as noted in my post above.

Looked up the Reinhold module and the web site says no shipping to USA. Is there a different source?

I did a group purchase, shipped to a member in Europe and had him ship to us. This was back in Z4um days.
I wouldn't mind purchasing the additional one-touch module. Though, in retrospect, should have done it when the dollar was worth more. Last edited by nonsns3; 04-18-2008 at 01:54 PM.. |

You are correct, they will not ship. It's called networking, make a friend in Europe or actually anywhere outside the States and when they come to your city for business or vacation, get them to bring one. There is no easy way to do this. I have been working at getting one for over two years, ever since I found out about them. I did not want to greedy and ask for more than I needed, could have made a killing if I had. Sorry.

No other source as they are only made and sold out of Germany. I bought from them, but lucky for me, I'm in Canada and I bought both modules. If enough of you guys are interested, I'd be willing to help act as a shipping hub here in Canada if you want to do another group buy.

So back to the original topic......
I finally got the roof fix. Just in case anyone has the same problem and is searching this thread later, the work order as follows: "Replace failed convertible top switch. Failed top sensor for stowed position. Replaced sensor (bottom side of right pillar)." Parts: (1) 61-31-8-378-940 Switch (4) 61-13-8-353-746 Cable Connector (4) 61-13-1-379-833 Shrinking Hose Last edited by nonsns3; 04-22-2008 at 01:41 AM.. |

would be nice....just need the person to install for me. The roof one touch and the garage door remote are about the only two things I don't have.
Glad you'll be kept out of trouble IMZ4N.... Rosie

(1) 61-31-8-378-940 Switch - $16.90
(4) 61-13-8-353-746 Cable Connector - $0.57 x 4 = $2.28 (4) 61-13-1-379-833 Shrinking Hose - $$1.07 x 4 = $4.28 (all prices MSRP) Sounds like a cheap repair at least! This may be good to know for later. |
