M5 F10 keys, help. Please!
Hello everyone,
I have a 2013 M5 which I have recently modified. I installed an FI exhaust, air intake and a tune which went bad and killed my ECUs. Long story but I ended up having to change both ECUs at the AD. They called me last week telling me that the ECUs come with a new VIN and neither one of your 2 keys would work. So they went ahead and got me a new one. Today I got a call to pick up the car and when I did, I was given three keys. The two I gave them and a new one. All working but I was told that one of them will not have the "Smart .....(something I don't remember)" and you will not be able to get in the car through the keyless entry option and you would need to physically push the unlock button to open the doors. I tried all keys and to my surprise, they all worked fine, so I call and asked and was told that the car needs to be locked for 29 minutes to "sleep" and then you can try again. I did and again, all three keys work fine. I am not upset but I know one of them has something missing, I want to know which one it is and what is the issue with it. The AD claims that there are two slots to program 2 keys so that's what they did. The only thing I notice, I think, is that getting in and out of the car 2 of the 3 keys remember each others settings while the 3rd has its own (car seat, radio, etc..). Not sure if this makes sense but I would really be happy if someone can answer this. Thank you in advance! Last edited by MYK; 06-02-2015 at 03:38 PM.. |

Maybe that's what the AD meant to say, that all three keys would work but only two keys will remember your preset settings
