Reverse Gear Problem
Hey Guys,
I have a 05' Z4 roadster, 2.5. I have been noticing since a couple of days that whenever i put my car into reverse gear and start backing up, there is a strange banging noise which i can feel. What i mean is its not only some sound coming but i can feel the banging vibrations! It really is scary at times. I dont have a damn clue about this. Has anyone faced this problem before? |

Do you guys have manual or auto or smg? mas, is yours also a 2.5? how many miles? It would be good to be as specific as possible about these things so other could chime in, and it might help someone else down the road.

yeah, mine is a 05', 2.5, manual 5 speed (obv since its 2.5 it is 5 speed). and i hav approx 34k miles on it. The sound is def coming from the rear, probably the suspension. But, my hunch is something is not right when the rear gear engages. It feels as if i am going over a big bump and a sharp one. I might take the car to a service center soon as well. Any1 has an idea vat cud be possibly wrong? Has any1 else dealt with dis and got it fixed?

Hey Mark,
U said u have the same issue as of mine rite? I had a question. When u back up ur car, do u have ur foot on the brake too? I was just wondering if its the ABS. If it indeed is ABS then we are fine. Probably the ABS does this as a safety measure. For e.g. when u go down the hill and apply brakes in a continuum, u will feel as if the brake pedal is giving u jolts. My hunch is something similar to that might be going on. I am still not sure. I am gonna call up the service people and discuss with them about this. If any1 gets to know what really the matter is, plz pass on the info. Thanks for help in advance! |
