EPIC ED Post

In honor of my 400th post on Bimmerpost, I've waited until I completed my ED write up. RowanBuds provided me with an idea for a host, which I have done.

This blog is of epic length, so be forewarned, gentle people. It also contains links to several videos of the experience.

So far it's been great

He has come through as promised.

By the way, you mentioned it being really hard for BMW and the CA to change the build or the pickup schedule. I see people doing that all the time upto a certain point. What am I missing here?

Wonderful blog! Thank you so much for sharing. Even though we were pretty much there at roughly the same time (I think I ended as you began) I love reading these as a great reminder of my own.

Incidentally, to this point......I jokingly posted here that I named my car Coco after Ice T's wife, due to the wide rear end of the F80. I was never serious about that, I don't name cars, but my wife picked up on this.

Now she calls my car "Coco" constantly. Did it throughout all of ED and now:

"So when will Coco be in NJ?"
"When will Coco be at the dealership?"
"Have you made the first payment on Coco?" (this last one makes me chuckle)

Overall her calling my car Coco makes me cringe though. My own fault.

Obviously, I am not a CA. But because your PO is with BMW of NA instead of your dealership, there is an extra layer of paperwork that needs to be accomplished when an order is changed. Changing your delivery schedule within the same day is a different deal. Changing dates is almost like changing an order. You are the customer and it can be done, but I don't like running the risk that something gets screwed up or left out due to a lot of changes.

Fantastic! Thanks for writing it up. Great pics. I gotta say, some of them, especially when the SO looks more dark red than orange, make me wonder if AW was the right choice...

I loved the delivery video. I did the factory tour right after delivery so there was no victory lap for me

Now I know what I missed.

BTW with SO you GOTTA get the black grilles!!

IND order placed for black grilles, body color reflector replacement for the front fender, and the blacked out side grills in the front fender. Leaving the rear reflectors alone.

Thanks for the great post! I just put a down a deposit for ED M3 not too long ago myself and am looking forward to my own trip! I hope to make it at least half as EPIC as yours. Your post definitely answered some detailed questions I had about the ED process (i.e. what to do with luggage on delivery day, timing, etc.)... so, thanks for that!

I am curious to see what that looks like, be sure to take and post before and after pictures with the same perspective please...

And yes I am being facitous since your a photographer which means you will take and post pictures out of OCD...

You are welcome. There is a lot of good info out there that I used to plan - if you have any other questions I am glad to try to answer them. WHen is your delivery date?
