Adding Driver's Assistance Package

is it possible to add this stuff to the car after you've already taken possession? the loaner car I have right now has this and it's awesome. I wish my car came with this stuff! hahaha

I don't think so. You need a camera at least and possibly other hardware. I am sure others will give you more detail. I know it's not just coding.

I'm sure technically you can if you have the executive package. That seems to have some required component (also gets you the back up cam) but it's going to cost you a fortune, not to mention the drilling (for the additional cameras) and the additional equipment you need in that cubby hole to the left of the steering wheel (it goes away w/driver assistance package.

That's an awful lot of work and money IMO

Seeing dozens of these threads pop up over the years is the reason why I check every single option box. Well, except for CCB and my wallet just moans thinking about those.

I tried to get the side cameras at the last second but alas it was too late. SamS maybe you have the right idea....

yeah unfortunately I didn't order the car. it's just what they had on the lot. I would have ordered mine with everything had I ordered. but this is the only option it didn't have that I'd want. the only other thing I thought I wanted was the carbon fiber roof and now I'm kinda glad I don't have it. I love the look of the SO without the carbon fiber roof. gimme more of that beautiful color! hahaha

Apart from the CCB this is the only other option I didn't choose. You guys are making wonder now if I should add it to my order. I still have time to think about it since I am going for an August slot. Hmmm

OP, what did you like so much about it?

yeah it's really cool. I think what I like about it so much is the full overhead view of the car while parking. super helpful. I believe it also gives you the blind-spot detection on the mirrors too. it's helpful. if I had ordered the car I would have gotten this.

Yeah, not everyone thinks that the driver assist stuff is "crap" as you call it in your signature......

I've seen a rear camera add-on which is integrated with the factory screen. Alekshop sells it. I'm considering adding that down the road.

Not sure about the sensors, personally I wouldn't want my bumper drilled for all these sensors.

I tried to get the side and top view cameras as I could see them being handy when parking close to a curb. That in combo w/rear camera and the sensors that come on the exec package is perfect.

I didn't care for blind spot(I turn my head) and speed limit info (I look at the signs) but that's just me.

New bumpers, park distance sensors, camera and coding. It would have been cheaper to get the exec pack

EDIT: as for the aftermarket add on cameras, I'm personally very hesitant to do that. Nothing like having an electronic issue in the future and fighting to prove it wasn't the aftermarket camera

Fully disclosure, my "park assist" is a 50lb sandbag on my garage floor. I didn't order any parking aids to keep cost low

The overhead camera feature can be ordered as a separate option. To me, BSM is not so helpful when you realize that when your side view mirrors are adjusted properly you don't have blind spots as long as you use the mirrors. I think adaptive cruise control is also included with the driver assist package which you may like. Still, except for the cameras -- which are available without the package -- none of these things are a compelling reason for me to want the driver assist package. I'd get the cameras and just live without the other stuff.

Cheers.

ah the link you provided took me to the 3 series options that's why. didn't notice it was 3 series stuff.

do the sensors give you that view from above? I thought it needs to be cameras? the explanation on the kit doesn't say much other than it being sensors. not cameras. my car already has sensors for pdc just not the cameras for the overhead view

The F30 cameras are the same F80 cameras. Sensors are PDC. Driver Assistance Package (Rear View Camera + PDC) is an F30 package and not an F80's.

Are you looking for the whole Driver Assistance Plus or just the Rear, Side and Top View Cameras?
