wheels/suspension NOOB Q's

(Please forgive the ignorance)

I have done bolt-ons on many of my vehicles, but never any suspension mods. I have only bought different size tires, and bought aftermarket wheels. I'd really like to get a nice aggressive look and improved handling out of my 1er. So my question is, can I do this incrementally? If so, whats the best approach/sequence? I dont mind a little firmer ride/noise and I'd like to fit some 19"s without rubbing. Can you offer me the best sequene, for doing it step by step? Should I get the wheels/tires first, then springs/coils/etc?

This will depend on what kind of fitment/tire size you are planning to fit on the car.

If you end up trying to get wider tires on a wheel that has a lower offset, you may require camber (possibly a fender roll/pull) in order to get them to fit. If this is the case, you should start your suspension modification with camber plates, then wheels, then lowering springs, then shocks.

If the wheels you are looking at look like they will fit without modification (check fitment threads), then I would go straight for some new springs (and shocks since you can save your time/money on labor) since it will help with the stance of the car. If you are going springs I suggest some Swift Spec R ones. They provide a new even drop that makes the car look really aggressive without being too slammed.

My suggestion would be function over form. Start with improving your ride and handling first and then move on to wheels and tires. What you change suspension-wise could possibly impact the available wheel/tire combination you want to run. If you start with wheels/tires first, it could possibly limit what you want to do with the suspension.

Suspension Basics -
1. M3 rear subframe bushings or alternately subframe bushing inserts (stabilizes the rear over bumps and reduces the rubber band effect under hard acceleration)
2. Quality dampers and springs (improved ride and handling)
3. M3 front lower control arm kit (~.75 degrees of negative camber and provides better turn-in)

Wheels/Tires -
1. Wheels of your choice in proper 1-series offsets (lots of information on this in the forum)
2. Tires of your choice (again, lots of information on this in the forum)

I just took off the rft and put on the Michelin PSS. Otherwise, just the factory m sport wheels, double 5 spoke, not sure the actually name of them.

If these are your wheels then you have the 261M M Sport 18's. Staggered front and rear. I'm not aware these came in a square setup if yours are the same front and rear.
