o2 sensors
I think my test pipes have finally fried my post cat o2 sensors, at least on one side. I keep getting increased emissions SES light and all codes point to the sensors. Anyway, probably best for a new set all around.
Any recommendations of a solid place to buy replacements? Appreciate the help in advance. |

OP I am facing the exact same problem. Dealer quoted me $500 for the repair which I think is total bs. Is there a DIY guide on how to replace the sensor? It looks like the link above is a good deal.

All you need is a o2 sensor wrench or crows feet socket, and a 10mm socket to take off the sensor heat shield. Once you get under the car you will see both sensors (B1 & B2). There's also a video on YouTube. Just type in "E92 M3 Exhaust removal" and you'll see what I'm talking about?! |

Update:
After ordering 02 sensors and then my order being cancelled because they were out of stock. I decided to just try something since I had the sensors out and the car in the air. Being the downstream sensors were caked in carbon. I decided to do a little experiment just to see what happens. I poured some gasoline in a small plastic container, and soaked the sensors for about 15 min. After which I put some gloves on and used a soft detail brush to clean and discard all the built up carbon. Gasoline works rather well. After they were cleaned up I let them dry. Reinstalled them, cleared the codes to just humor myself. I am not positive my SES light wont come back but as of now, no codes and the car is running very well. I still plan on replacing them but I honestly didnt know cleaning your O2 sensors were really and option, or at least didnt really consider it because it was just a routine replaced item. So there you go, if you want to experiment in cleaning them and potentially fixing the same issue, I would say give it a shot. |
