Aftermarket Seatbelts

So I'm looking to source replacement belts in Laguna Seca Blue and the only reliable source I see is IND but their blue is not an exact match.

Has anyone sourced/installed custom colored belts? I'd really appreciate some direction here. Looked high and low and drawn a blank and obviously safety is paramount.

iND is pretty epic with custom stuff. Couldn't they just dye the ones they have for you?

Craaaaap have you considered calling an upholstery shop to dye regular seat belts? I bet it'd be cheaper and then you can bring in a Laguna Seca Blue example for them to match it perfectly.

Yeah the issue is the dye may run/fade etc. Not a good approach according to my upholstery guy.

Could always get it done, let the dye really seep in then scotch guard it to seal it all into the fabric

So my upholstery guy just called me and said he's getting me some samples. We'll see how well they compare to LSB.

Boom. Keep me updated! If the price is right, I may want a set to match my Perf steering wheel's light blue leather strip

I will definitely. If I don't post it here it will be on my build thread. I'll photo the samples alongside my LSB Recaro logo when I get them.

Be careful as some chemical dyes can deteriorate the stitching.

Lots of seatbelt webbing being sourced from China, just look at eBay. Not sure if I would trust it 100%.

I have read that each oem vehicle manufacturers that offer individual seatbelt colors have to test each individual color, thus making variable options very expensive. It could be bs, but it could also be a reason for your difficulty in getting a custom seatbelt color.

Interesting, thanks. So far any custom belt eludes me. My upholstery guy has done custom belts quite a bit apparently, so I'll see what samples he comes up with, and more importantly where he gets them from. He said the challenge is also getting belts to exactly match the thickness of the OEM belt, or it can cause problems retracting etc. We'll see.

the possibility of you getting an exact match seatbelt is VERY unlikely

I can tell you from experience that Polyester/ Nylon which is the fiber used in Seat belts is one of the hardest things to custom dye. If it were a natural fiber it would be easier, but most dye companies do not want to deal with polyester.

I hope you can find a good result, but I due fibers all the time and poly is one of the more difficult ones to do.......
